New Dimensions for 112.5-150kVA Dry-Type Distribution

Transformers--Built on Frame #916
In response to customer feedback and requests, the outline dimensions of dry-type distribution transformers
commonly referred to as being on the 150kVA frame have been revised. The change is effective
immediately. The new Frame Number for all styles previously manufactured on Frame 916 is designated
916A. The change increases the width and depth by approximately 2. The terminals have also been raised
nearly 2 to offer additional wiring space. The overall height of these transformers remains unchanged.
These revisions will facilitate ease of wiring in the field, while at the same time maintaining Cutler-Hammers
position as having the smallest footprint in the industry on this rating of transformer. The following chart
shows a comparison of the dimensions of Frame 916A to the previous Frame and to our major competitors
dimensions for their equivalent units:

Some of the more common transformers that are affected by this change include V48M28T49K,
V48M28T49CU, N48M28T12A, N48M28T12CU, V48M28B12A, V48M28B12CU, N48M28B75A,
N48M28B75CU, and V48M47T49F.
Due to the increased width, a new Weathershield has been created to fit on Frame 916: WS19.
Additionally, replacement case parts are different for the larger frame.

All units manufactured since July 2000 have the Frame Number printed on the nameplate. If
you require replacement parts or a Weathershield for a transformer manufactured on a 150kVA
frame and the unit does not have the Frame Number stated on the nameplate, the proper parts
are those listed in on pages 81 and 82 of the DTDT Product Guide (PG.36.01A.T.E.) for Frame
916.
