History of pak-china relations go back to 1950.

Both countries have strategic relations, China supports Pakistan's stance on

Kashmir while Pakistan supports China on the issues of Xinjiang, Tibet, and
Taiwan.
China and Pakistan were drawn to each other because there was geographic
proximity between the two nation states, and India had a Military posture
and geography that made it capable of attacking both China and Pakistan.
Their fear can be explained by realism as they say:
[[[[[[non-intervention does not apply in relations b/w great powers and their near
abroad]]]]]]
The 1971 Indo-Pak war had tilted the balance of power in South Asia in favor
of India. It suited neither Pakistan nor China. Pakistan felt more threatened
when India exploded a nuclear device on 18 May 1974. India continued to be
Pakistans principal security concern. Thus causing imbalance of power
between India and Pakistan. As liberalists point that one of causes of war is
actually imbalance of power, thus to ensure survival Pakistan had no choice
except align with China in Exchange for Chinese political and military support
against a U.S backed India.

their expense.]]]]]
If Pakistan do not keep good relations with china, it will be a huge threat to its
security.

This co-operation enhanced security for both countries and thus survival.

Security dilemma?????
China has provided economic, military, technical assistance and nuclear help
to Pakistan and each considers the other a close strategic ally. China is our
second largest trade partner.
With the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan, there is a general sentiment in Pakistan
to adopt a foreign policy which favors China over the United States, maybe
that is why Pakistan is the most pro-China country in the world, and
Favorable relations with China have been a pillar of Pakistan's foreign policy.
Thus between U.S and China, Pakistan would definitely choose China.
This kind of favorable foreign policy with china is because Pakistan needs
China more than China needs Pakistan for its survival.
Basically China is To Pakistan the way US is to Israel.

Chinese nuclear co-operation with Pakistan after the discriminatory Indo-US

nuclear deal and the US shift towards India has pushed Pakistan to further
diversify its foreign policy towards China. This also explains free trade treaty
between them.
