Prefijos y sufijos en ingls

Prefijos y sufijos en ingls nos ayudan a hacer palabras, esto se conoce como la formacin de palabras, o en
ingls, word formation. Hoy vamos a ver en primer lugar el sufijo -ful, que se puede aadir a sustantivos o a
verbos para crear en ambos casos adjetivos. En secundo lugar, el sufijo -hood, aadido a sustantivos para
formar otros sustantivos, y por ltimo, el prefijo -un para formar adjetivos opuestos, a partir de otros adjetivos.
Decirte, por si no te acuerdas, que los prefijos se aaden por delante y los sufijos por detrs.
1) FUL
Beauty beautiful
-Success successful
Pain painful
Faith faithful
Respect -respecful
Hay otros que se forman de verbos, aadiendo -ful al verbo. Por ejemplo:
Forget forgetful
Help helpful
Use useful
Hay muchos ms. Aqu slo hay unos cuantos ejemplos.
Commom mistake: acabar el adjetivo en FULL, CON DOBLE LL. NO! Esto es un error, los adjetivos
acabados en FUL, solo llevan una L.
EXCEPCIN: FULL (lleno), con LL.
2) HOOD
Sometimes we add suffixes to words to form other words. Lets see -hood, which is added to nouns to form other
nouns:
1. Mother (noun) + hood: motherhood (noun: maternidad)
2. Adult (noun) + hood: adulthood (noun: madurez, edad adulta)
3. child (noun) + hood: childhood (noun: infancia)
4. brother (noun) + hood: brotherhood (noun: hermandad, fraternidad)
3) UN = ADJETIVOS OPUESTOS
Hay distintas formas de hacer los adjetivos opuestos, una de ellas, por medio de prefijos. Aqu nos centramos en
el prefijo -un. Veamos algunos adjetivos con sus ejemplos.
Manageable vs unmanageable
