ASSESSMENT CRITERIA (ABILITIES)

LEARNING STANDARDS(MEASURABLE)

To be able to:

Oral comprehension
1. Knows key words, sentences and information out of brief
oral messages.
2. Understands information out of different audiovisual media.
3. Understands conversations on familiar topics.
4. Understands messages produced with different accents.
Oral expression
1. Utters words and brief messages with the right
pronunciation, stress, intonation and rhythm.
2. Uses the right vocabulary in use in the classroom.
3. Uses basic vocabulary on familiar subjects.
4. Uses basic strategies and constructs sentences for the
exchange of basic information.
5. Uses visual support and non-verbal language for oral
production
Reading comprehension
1. Correctly reads and understands key vocabulary in use.
2. Knows the basic orthographic signs.
3. Understands clear, simple and varied messages
4. Reads comics, stories and other text types.
5. Applies basic reading strategies: contextualization, use of
previous knowledge and identification of main genres.
6. Reads texts.
7. Uses dictionaries and the ICTs as a means for information
and learning.
Written expression
1. Uses capital letters and other punctuation signs.
2. Writes short and usual words with comparative correction
3. Writing addressed to different text types
4. Takes care in the elaboration and presentation of texts.
5. Revises and self-corrects the texts produced.
6. Uses dictionaries and ICTs to produce texts.

1. produce brief aural text related to the description of family and friends (e.g. refer to age,
relationship, age, relationship, size, hair and eye colouring). In addition to describing object and
places in a simple way.
2. extract specific information from aural texts related to known topics.
3. follow basic instructions.
4. understand and reproduce nursery rhymes, songs and dialogues that have been worked in class.
5. get the general picture of aural texts related to the students daily life once they have been properly
developed in class. In addition to emphasising the importance of non-verbal communication to
make themselves understood.

7. perceive the regularities in the sound-spelling relationship.
8. demonstrate and understanding and use of basic formulae and expressions necessary for social
