Overview & Objectives


This lesson will introduce your students to the names for the space
notes in the treble clef.
Students will:
Play games to reinforce the difference between a space and a
line on a staff
Identify the four space notes in the treble clef F A C E
Create a music video for the FACE song

Evaluation

Q1 (10 Minutes)
Students will play toss the
beanies onto the staff and
decide if it lands on a line or
a space
Teacher will then challenge
students to toss the beanies
so that they land only on
the spaces not on the lines
Q2 (20 Minutes)
Teacher will introduce idea
that the spaces have their
own names
Students will make guesses
at what those note names
are
Teacher will tell the students
the names for the notes
Students will watch the
YouTube video FACE
Students will learn and sing
the song from the video
Students will learn the F-AC-E Face!! Song
Q3 (15 Minutes)
Students will play the Staff
Wars or Staff Swatter game
as a class
Teacher will assist the class
in making choices
Students may use their Note
Names card to make
decisions
Q4 (15 Minutes)
Students will practice the FA-C-E Face!! Song
Students will draw a face on
each space note on their
flash cards
Student will sing the song
and hold up the proper flash
card for each note
