The technology that was important and invented by
Greeks.

Essential Question(s):
What are the various achievements of different
civilizations in the ancient and classical world?

Teaching Points/ Objectives:


With the use of the guided notes, students will be able
to identify verbally or with writing 2 important
technologies ancient Greece has invented.

With the use of a modified Frayer Model, students


will be able to fill out the diagram and be able to
explain the significance of the technologies of Greece
and how they are important today.

Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) / Guided practice:


Recap what we had talked about yesterday about the geography
of Greece.
Ask what is different about Greece than other civilizations we have 20
discussed.
Explain that now we are going to move away from the Geography
of Greece and towards their inventions that they have discovered.
Go through slides 4-10 in the guided notes. Stop to check in to go
over more difficult vocabulary such as terracing, and aqueducts.
Tie the geography back in for why they would need to do this to
survive.
After explain that we are going to learn a little more in-depth about
these technologies and conduct a graphic organizer to help us
remember.
Read a small paragraph on the art of Greece and Model how to
complete the graphic organizer.
Do the first two boxes as a think aloud
have the students give you the answers for the last two boxes.

technologies that we discussed in the notes. ( if there is enough

Then they are going to come up and show their organizer and the
other students are going to have to copy their answers into their
blank organizers.
