Galileo Questions

The church gave Galileo the opportunity to write and think while he was
trapped in his house. But, why would the church permit him to do such things. If
they did not shared the same thinking, would they use his ideas and knowledge to
mold them as their own desires and necessities?

Galileo was a scientist and he had an almost unique opportunity he was

as strong as the authorities but he surrendered his knowledge to the powers that
be, to use it, no, not use it, but to abuse it (125) If Galileo was in such a position
why would he choose not to show the truth. Why would he betrayed his own nature
as a scientist.
