E-Pure Low Purity Checks

1. Check the cartridges and make sure they are Thermo Scientific Brand, that they are
the correct cartridges for the unit, that they are in the correct order, and that they are
not expired. Please note the catalog number and lot code on each cartridge. Also
check for "spaces (empty space with no resin material) or an exposed spring
(extended 2-3) at the top or bottom of each cartridge. If a space exists, it indicates
that the resin beads inside have shrunk and are exhausted or nearly exhausted.
Make sure that each cartridge can hang on its own in the canister head. To do
this, remove the canister and re-install the cartridge. If it cannot hang in place on its
own, the small GSX27 o-ring may need to be replaced.

2. If there is an organic free cartridge, remove it and move the third cartridge over to
the last position (farthest on the right; the third canister will now be
emptyalternatively you can switch cartridges 3 & 4). If the purity goes up above
18, the organic cartridge may be faulty, and it may need to be replaced.

3. Make sure nothing else was changed in the unit - adding/removing a remote
dispenser, re-routing any tubing, etc.
4. Check the flow rate from the system: it should be close to 2 liters per minute. If the
flow is low, try dispensing without the final filter. If the flow rate is still low, even
when dispensing without the final filter, check for obstructions in the system
(especially in the pressure regulator), verify the feed water pressure is adequate, or
consider replacing the pump/motor.

5. Examine the check valve (part number 02214; see attached procedure). If it
is obviously clogged or leaking, attempt to free any clogged debris or replace the
valve.

6. Check the resistivity meter (see D2770 test procedure). If it is not reading
correctly, there are two options:
