Dear Mentor,
Thank you for agreeing to participate in Vaughn Next Century Learning Centers Job
Shadowing Day on INSERT DATE. The chance to learn more about a career of interest before
leaving high school from someone in the field allows seniors to gain a deeper understanding of the
connection between school and work and provides a valuable perspective when solidifying
postsecondary goals. We hope this experience will be a positive one for you and your "shadow".
As you know, the student will spend INSERT DATE with you. Please integrate him or her into
your work day as much as possible. The student will be interested in and have questions about the
history of your place of employment, its purpose and the various opportunities that exist within it.
Additionally, information about educational requirements and the experience required to obtain a
position in the field will be helpful.
Other appropriate activities for the student might include:
Touring facilities
Attending meetings
Observing daily routines
Accompanying you on calls, errands, rounds, etc.
Again the faculty and staff at Vaughn Next Century Learning Center appreciate your time and
contribution to the education of our students. If you would be interested in speaking to groups of
students about your career, please indicate your willingness at the bottom of the Job Shadowing
Day Questionnaire you will sign at the end of the day.
Sincerely,

Stan Leandro
