ls expectations
Dave is progressing in developing his assessment and evaluation strategies. He has become aware of the
need to modify or differentiate both instructional and assessment strategies based on the level, ability, and
social circumstance of the students. He utilizes a variety of diagnostic and formative assessments that
address various learning styles, and follows through with summative evaluation in the form of lab write-ups,
research assignments, quizzes, and tests. He has been practicing organization of his lessons based on big
ideas, learning goals and success criteria. Dave has fully utilized the blended learning component of the
courses in which all pertinent lessons, notes, assignments and learning goals are made available on-line to
students Dave effectively provides students with guided practice and monitors their progress. He
understands the role of student self-assessment and utilizes strategies to promote student ownership of their
learning. He has explored a number of strategies to elicit student response and participation, and has
reflected on the challenges inherent in this process. I am confident that Dave will continue to expand and
refine his assessment and evaluation strategies as he gains more experience.
During this placement, Dave has demonstrated independence in his ability to address the challenges of
planning and delivering lessons, maintaining classroom expectations, collecting assessment data, and
employing self-evaluation as a follow-up step in his teaching practice. He has consistently performed at a
level indicative of success for a teacher entering the profession.
It has been a pleasure working with Dave over the past five weeks. He possesses a natural ability to relate
to students on both an academic and personal level.
