The Analytical Essay and To Kill a Mockingbird Weekly Lesson Plan

OVERVIEW / RATIONALE
This is the second week in the Unit.
The entire week is allotted for writing body
paragraphs since I will need to meet individually with each
student.
ENDURING UNDERSTANDINGS
Good writers develop and refine their ideas for
thinking, learning, communicating, and aesthetic
expression.
Good writers use a repertoire of strategies that
enables them to vary form and style, in order to write for
different purposes, audiences, and contexts.

Body paragraph presentation in which students will
learn the T.E.X.A.S. method (topic sentence, expand topic,
example, analysis, summary sentence).
Students will evaluate sample body paragraphs
Students will begin drafting their own body
paragraphs
Teacher will meet with students individually to assist
in writing body paragraphs.
If students finish early they will work on creative
projects
Homework: Continue working on body paragraphs/get caught up
