the lavatory pass. They must return with the pass within three minutes or
they will lose the privilege of going to the lavatory freely.
Storing and Organizing our desk and materials: Children will only have out
on their desk materials for the task we are working on. All other materials,
should be stored in his or her desk until time for use. There will be
community baskets of pencils, and crayons that will be kept out at all times
for childrens use during assignments.
When and how to use the pencil sharpener: At the beginning of each
assignment, the person I've chosen to be the "Pencil Sharpener" will invite
children to have him or her sharpen their pencil; if a childs pencil breaks
during an assignment, they may use a community pencil; only the "Pencil
Sharpener" can run the sharpener and empty it.
Throwing away trash: Children may throw away trash whenever they need
to if I am not teaching the whole group; Children will make sure all trash
lands in the can and pick up trash even if it isn't theirs.
Signals for attention: When I need the childrens attention, I will say
Children give me five as soon as children hear the signal, they are to stop
what they are doing, look at me, and listen for directions.
What to do during free time: If a child is finished with an assignment, they
may first work on any unfinished assignments that are in the front pocket of
their work notebook; when they are finish, they may choose to do his/her
classroom job, read a book, write a story, illustrate a book, make up math
problems, peer-tutor someone who needs help, or create a song about what
the class is studying.
Ending the day: Children will clean off his/her desk; leave out their work
notebook; pick up any trash within three feet of their desk; stack their chair;
wait quietly to be dismissed.
Discipline plan/consequences
I will have three apples on the wall of my classroom, green, yellow, and red.
All students will start the day on the Green apple.
red apple.
There will be a lunch bunch reward for students not on red. This means
parent.
All students that remain on green for the whole day will receive a
reward from the teacher. Ex: chance ticket, sticker, star, stamp, etc
Positive Reinforcements
I believe every child has the potential to be bright and beautiful like a
rainbow! So in my class we will build rainbows for good behavior. If a child is
caught going the extra mile for good behavior, he/she can earn a piece for
their rainbow. At the end of each week, if the rainbow is complete, the child
will get to choose a prize from the treasure box.
Behavior Contracts
Every child will have a daily contract in which the days activities will be
broken into 30-45 minutes with the name of the activity (ex: dismissal from
gym, science, lunch, etc). There will be a section for notes. Each child will
take this home in his/her homework folder each day and have it signed by
his/her parent.
For individual children that need a specific behavior contract, an agreement
will be made by the parent and student, stating what reward they will receive
at home for following through with good behavior, sign it and give to teacher
to have on record.
