years.

Mexican Revolution pushes the first Mexican political refugees into the US. However, due to World War 1, there was
an overall decline in immigration.

During the time of economic hardship, immigrants are often blamed; immigration plummets.

Immigration is at the lowest its been in a century due to World War II and the Great Depression. However, immigration
increases after World War II when Congress passes special legislation enabling refugees from Europe and the Soviet
Union to enter the US.

Refugee Act of 1980 grants asylum to politically-oppressed refugees; immigration increases.
