I WAS NOT READING REALLY

One day, I was watching television when the telephone rang. It was my mother. She was
calling me to ask if I was reading a book. While I was talking to her on the telephone, I
quickly turned off the television and took a book. She said, "I hoped you were reading a
good book but it seems to be you were watching television. You know that I think books
are very important. Reading should be a daily activity." I told Mom, "Yes, I will be
discussing my book with you when I see you later. I know too much television is not
good. In fact, I am reading right now." Mom asked, "You are not watching television?" I
didn't want to lie anymore. I told Mom, "I was watching television when you called me.
But now I am reading a book." Then Mom was happy.
