Dear School Administrator:

Thank you for considering my application to teach in your school district. My name
is Tatem Kingsbury, and I grew up in Letcher, South Dakota. I graduated from Sanborn
Central in 2011, and started attending Dakota State University the following fall. I am an
elementary education major with endorsements in technology and coaching.

I am currently in Dakota State Universitys pilot program of year-long student

teaching. I am on campus for classes on Mondays, and I am student teaching in the first
grade classroom at Madison Elementary Tuesday-Fridays. I had the opportunity to
participate in this year-long residency and thought it to be beneficial, as I will see an entire
year in the classroom when finished.

I feel that its my responsibility to provide every student with a chance to learn and

be successful. Every classroom provides an array of students with diverse abilities and
learning styles. As a teacher, I will try to assist all of my diverse learners with different
teaching methods and strategies. Each student deserves an equivalent opportunity to learn.
In my coursework at Dakota State, I came up with my own management plan. It includes my
philosophy on how children learn, my classroom as a tool, classroom rules, problem solving,
disciplinary strategies, and parent involvement. As a student at Dakota State, I have learned
many different instructional strategies and assessments that will help me in my years as a
teacher. A few of the strategies I have learned are direct instruction, informal instruction,
inquiry based learning, and cooperative learning. Having a variety of instruction as a
teacher sets the stage of success for the students.

Thank you again for your consideration of employment at your school district. If you

would like to learn more about me, you can visit my webpage at:

Sincerely yours,

Tatem Kingsbury
