Unit Activity

Dribbling, Striking, and Volleying

Unit Context

Learner Characteristics: 1st grader (10 girls and 11 boys) with no


special needs that are not generally experienced in striking dribbling,
and volleying.
Physical Environment: Gymnasium with 4 concrete wall, with bleachers
on one side, hardwood floor, at Mylan Park Elementary
Equipment Access: We will have access to all the equipment at Mylan
Park. The school had a variety of balls that we will use.
Special Concerns: The only special concerns we have is to worry about
some boys who push each other. We will keep them separated.

Unit Goal

Student will be able to perform 2 out of the 3 critical elements in dribbling.


They will also be able to dribble a ball in a controlled environment. Students
will also respect other by keeping hands and feet to themselves.

Objectives

Psychomotor: Students will be able to dribble a individually using at


least 2 out of the 3 critical elements
Cognitive: Students will be able to explain why it is important to dribble
with their inside and outside of their feet, why it is important to dribble
with their eyes up and not looking down at the ball, and also why it is
important to dribble while being on their toes. Which are the critical
elements of dribbling
Affective: Students will be able to remain safe throughout the whole
lesson
Health-Related Fitness: Students will remain active the whole lesson
minus instruction.

PE lesson. They will then grab a poly spot after they are finished
running the laps and

Music from a stereo will possible be in use for the ASAP activity and
the core. Use of this instructional technology will be used only if
necessary. (most of the class is acting out )

Psycho motor: SWBAT help teacher demonstrate the skills doing the
intro and core of the lesson. (Look for critical elements while they
perform so the class does not get the wrong idea of how to perform the
task)
