Our Readings today begin with the proclamation of the

Ten Commandments. These were dictated by God to
Moses and proclaimed by Moses to all the people of Israel as binding on all of them. God warns of punishment
for those who break the law and blessings for those who
keep the laws.

Saint Paul writing to the Corinthians draws attention to

the national characteristics of the Greeks (Gentiles) and
the Jews (Believers). For those who believe and accept
Christ as the Messiah, the Cross of Christ is not a sign of
weakness, but a sign of Wisdom.
In the Gospel, Jesus goes into the Temple with indignant
anger and chases away people whose behavior and activities betray the sacredness of the Temple. He chases
people who were buying and selling, out of the Temple.
This singular act on the part of Jesus will be a turning
point in His Life.
When Jesus was brought to the Temple as a child,
Simeon the prophet had said: This child is destined for
the fall and rise of many in Israel (Luke 2:34)

Books and even spurious Gospels have been written to

destroy the Biblical and , historical image and power of
God. Belief in God and the efficacy of Ten Commandments is being questioned, even by those whose laws
were written under light of the Ten Commandment. We
need to be conscious about all these and re-dedicate our

March 09 - ST FRANCES OF ROME

Frances was born at Rome in 1384. Married while still young, she bore three sons. In an age
of great afflictions for humanity, she distributed her possessions to the poor and ministered
to the sick. She was outstanding in in actively aiding the needy and in practicing virtue, especially humility and patience. In 1425 she founded the House of the Oblates of the Congregation of Mount Olivet, under the rule of St. Benedict. She died in 1440.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

We have been able to install our New Stations of the Cross. The Artist is from Pago
Pago, American Samoa. He died a few years
ago. He was a dear friend of mine. We pray
for him. We thank all those who have paid
for the expenses of each Station of the
Cross. Thank you.
We will now start work on the Tabernacle
and pictures of the Holy Family and the Divine Mercy.

LAND PURCHASE. Our Bishop has given us

permission to explore the possibility of buying St Georges. Ed Yost, one of our Parishioners has drawn up a contract and hopefully
the Episcopalian Church will accept our offer of 2.75 million. The land is 2.69 acres. It
has a Church, a Day-Care center, a Rectory
and a small Guest house.

Enrollment and re-enrollment for School Year 2015-2016 at Holy Family Catholic Academy
are in full swing for all Grades K-8th and the ELC for ages 3-5. The Schools new online
procedure simplifies the paper work involved. Parish Families are encouraged to consider

NEWS FROM OTHER PARISHES

The New St Michaels Church in Kailua- Kona on the Big
Island, will be blessed on March 25. The old Church was
157 years old. It had cracks after many earthquakes and
floods. Father Lio Faletoi the Pastor, has spent many
years of labor in building the new Church.
DIOCESAN: INCOME/EXPENSES REPORT
The latest Hawaii Catholic Herald has a Report on the
Sources of Income and Use of Resources report by the
Diocesan Finance Officer, Lisa Sakamoto.
The Total income was 12.8 million and the expenses were
11.4 million

WITH GRATEFUL HEARTS

Holy Family Parish as reached its goal of $197K and we
have received back $54K.
Many of the Parishes have reached their goal. Some are
yet to complete their fund-drive.

STEWARDSHIP
During the past years we have had Stewardship conferences, that have helped people understand the broader
meaning of the Term. Commitment to ou Faith requires
that we spend time, talent and treasure in supporting
Gods work and the Mission of the Church, here on Earth.

During the 40 Days of Lent, the Word of
God moves us to action, as we focus on
Christ teachings and suffering. We READ,
REFLECT and RESPOND.
ARCHBISHOP ROMERO
Pope Francis has formally recognized that
Archbishop Oscar Romero of El Salvador
who was killed in hatred while offering
Mass , died for the Faith and will be soon
beatified.
Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San
Francisco has refuted charges by the liberal
representatives of California for insisting
that Catholic Teachers adhere to Catholic
beliefs and practices. He challenged them
by asking if a Democrat would hire a Republican or vice versa in their political
work? Of course they all went silent.
Some people have one rule for themselves
and another for others! That is hypocrisy.
Politicians preach separation of Church
and State. In reality, they interfere all the
time with their political agenda in the affairs of the Church. We need to pray for
them.
Pope Francis has warned Catholics of
indifference. In his Lenten message for
2015, Pope Francis urged the Faithful to
look after our brothers and sisters who are
in need as a sure way to perfection.
Only 24% of American Catholics attend
weekly Masses.
The Holy Mass must been seen as
NOURISHMENT and not so much as an
Obligation.
