This is your homework packet for the week of March 9-13. The packet is due on Friday, March 13th. First
graders do not receive a grade for homework, but it is checked for completion and accuracy.
Spelling Our spelling words for this week follow will include words with ou and ow. We will have a test on Friday,
March 13th.
Spelling Words Our spelling words for this week are cow, town, mouse, how, out, mouth, how, down, clown, found,
house, shout, color, early, instead, nothing, oh, thought, just. The activities below are suggestions for spelling
practice.

Rainbow Write (use different colored pens or markers) the words five times each.
Sky Write (pretend your finger is a pencil and spell in the air) the words five times each.
Write a sentence for each word.
Make flashcards to practice reading and spelling each word.
Take a practice test on Thursday night.

Vocabulary - Words that will be discussed this week are: distract, nervous, senses, squeaky, volume,
scrambled, suddenly. Please discuss these words and practice using them in sentences throughout the week. We
will talk about these words in class as well.
Reading- Please complete pages 247-248 from the Wonders Your Turn practice book. Your child is encouraged to
complete additional pages from unit 5, week 4 if he or she needs additional practice. Please keep the book at home
and return only the completed pages in the purple homework folder.
Math Please complete pages in P183-P184 in your Go Math! practice book.
Reading Log Please read with your child for at least 45 minutes each week. Please record the books that you
have read and return in your homework folder on Friday.
