Dear Ban Ki Moon,

You said in an interview just a couple days ago, The world is watching and expectations
are high. Let us demonstrate that we are determined to work together to build a better life and a
brighter future for more vulnerable, their children and grandchildren. The importance of living
in a globalized world is tremendous to the majority of the worlds population. Globalization is
defined by several traits which are the improvement of technology, movement of people and
culture, diffusion of knowledge, and nongovernmental organizations and multicultural
corporations. We live in a world that was shaped by the European powers which brought
different forms of government such as, Capitalism, Democracy and so much more. They have
also brought us human rights and equality to all of the people in the world. If the world wasnt
globalized then the majority of the world would be in poverty and there would not be a lot of
ways for communications around the world. Technology connects us all and if globalization did
not occur then we, the world, would not all be connected. Education would not be as well as it is
today and equality between men and women would not be equal with men having the upper
hand. In reference to your statement about how the world is watching and expectations are high
that shows just the importance of globalization. It shows that each culture and nation is watching
for the next step in modernizing and advancing as a whole. Globalization is helping undeveloped
nations become developed and bring them out of poverty. Globalization can also be referred to as
interconnects and has three main parts to it, economic, social and political. These are the three
ways that globalization works throughout the world, changing cultures one by one and improving
life. I see that a main issue you are dealing with now is working with and for women and young
people to deepen the UN campaign to end violence against women. Youre promoting womens
political participation worldwide and developing an action agenda for ensuring the full
participation of women in social and economic recovery and lastly, addressing the needs of the
largest generation of young people the world has ever known. I completely agree with what you
are doing with this issue because violence against women should be put to an end completely and
the population of young people with programs to help them with life in the future. That truly
affects globalization because you are helping the younger generation grow up to do great things,
thus helping the world and ensuring that women get equal rights all around the world. This issue
ties into the theme of equality among all people in the world.
Sincerely,
Jenna Slatowski
