En contexto
The preterit and imperfect can appear in the
same sentence. The imperfect is used to describe
what was happening, while the preterit describes
the action that interrupted the ongoing action.
Yo corra y de repente me ca as me romp el pie.
When retelling of events, the imperfect provides
background information, such as time, weather,
and locations, while preterit indicates the specific
events that occurred.
Era la maana y haca demasiado fro. Mi hermano
montaba en bicicleta al colegio, de repente su
bufanda cay y l trat a conseguirla por eso
perdi control de su bicicleta y se dio con un
