ENGÌNE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM - EDC REPAÌRS
Engine ControI ModuIe (ECM)
´÷ 18.30.01
Remove
1. Disconnect battery earth lead.
2. Remove air intake plenum.
. HEATING AND VENTILATION,
REPAIRS, PIenum - air intake.
3. Using a suitable lever, release clip securing
ECM housing to bracket on bulkhead access
panel.
4. Release ECM housing from dovetail fixing.
5. Release fixings and remove ECM housing
cover.
6. Disconnect 5 multiplugs from ECM.
7. Remove ECM.
Refit
1. Fit ECM to housing and connect multiplugs.
2. Fit cover to ECM housing.
3. Secure ECM housing to dovetail and ensure
clip is located into slot.
4. Fit air intake plenum.
. HEATING AND VENTILATION,
REPAIRS, PIenum - air intake.
5. Connect battery earth lead.

Sensor - Engine CooIant Temperature
(ECT)
´÷ 18.30.10
Remove
1. Disconnect battery earth lead.
2. Drain coolant.
. COOLING SYSTEM - M47R,
ADJUSTMENTS, CooIant - drain and refiII.
3. Remove engine acoustic cover.
. ENGINE - M47R, REPAIRS, Cover -
engine acoustic.
4. Remove 5 screws securing air intake duct to
inlet manifold and bonnet platform.
5. Release and remove air intake duct.
6. Disconnect multiplug from ECT sensor.
7. Using a deep socket, carefully remove ECT
sensor and discard seal.
Refit
1. Ensure mating faces of ECT sensor and
cylinder head are clean.
2. Fit new seal and tighten ECT to 15 Nm.
3. Connect multiplug to ECT sensor.
4. Fit air intake duct and secure with screws.
5. Fit engine acoustic cover.
. ENGINE - M47R, REPAIRS, Cover -
engine acoustic.
6. Refill cooling system.
. COOLING SYSTEM - M47R,
ADJUSTMENTS, CooIant - drain and refiII.
7. Connect battery earth lead.

Sensor - Crankshaft Position (CKP)
´÷ 18.30.12
Remove
1. Disconnect battery earth lead.
2. Remove starter motor.
. CHARGING AND STARTING,
REPAIRS, Starter motor - M47R.
3. Disconnect multiplug from CKP sensor.
4. Remove Allen screw and remove CKP sensor.
5. Remove and discard seal.
Refit
1. Clean CKP sensor and mating face.
2. Fit new seal to CKP sensor.
3. Fit CKP sensor, and tighten Allen screw to 8
Nm.
4. Connect multiplug to CKP sensor.
5. Fit starter motor.
. CHARGING AND STARTING,
REPAIRS, Starter motor - M47R.
6. Fit battery earth lead.
Sensor - AcceIerator PedaI Position
(APP)

Remove
1. Remove lower fascia panel.
. INTERIOR TRIM COMPONENTS,
REPAIRS, CIosing paneI - fascia driver's
Iower.
2. Release APP sensor multiplug from pedal box.
3. Release APP sensor from accelerator pedal.
4. Remove 2 bolts securing APP sensor to pedal
box and remove sensor.

5. Remove nut securing APP sensor arm to APP
sensor and remove arm.
Refit
1. Fit APP sensor to pedal box and secure with
bolts.
2. Fit APP sensor arm to accelerator pedal.
3. Fit APP sensor arm to APP sensor and tighten
nut to 8 Nm.
4. Fit multiplug to pedal box.
5. Fit lower fascia panel.

Sensor - Camshaft Position (CMP)

Remove
1. Disconnect battery earth lead.
2. Remove engine acoustic cover.
. ENGINE - M47R, REPAIRS, Cover -
engine acoustic.
3. Disconnect multiplug from CMP sensor.
4. Remove Torx screw securing CMP sensor to
camshaft cover.
5. Remove CMP sensor and discard seal.
Refit
1. Clean CMP sensor and mating face.
2. Fit new seal to CMP sensor, fit sensor to
camshaft cover and tighten Torx screw to 8 Nm.
3. Connect multiplug to CMP sensor.
4. Fit engine acoustic cover.
. ENGINE - M47R, REPAIRS, Cover -
engine acoustic.
5. Connect battery earth lead.

ThrottIe pedaI stop
´÷ 19.20.61
Remove
1. Slacken locknut.
2. Remove throttle pedal stop.
Refit
1. Check that dimension 'A' measured from top of
throttle pedal stop to underside of locknut is 27
mm.
2. Taking care not to disturb locknut, screw
throttle pedal stop into floor pan until locknut
contacts floor.
3. Restrain throttle pedal stop, tighten locknut.
Sensor - combined - Mass Air FIow /
Intake Air Temperature (MAF/IAT)

Remove
1. Disconnect battery earth lead.
2. Remove air cleaner element.
. FUEL DELIVERY SYSTEM - DIESEL,
REPAIRS, EIement - air cIeaner.
3. Release 2 clips securing turbocharger duct to
MAF/ÌAT sensor and remove duct.
4. Remove seal, duct to MAF/ÌAT sensor.
5. Remove connector, engine breather pipe to air
cleaner housing.

6. Disconnect multiplug from MAF/ÌAT sensor.
7. Remove 2 Torx screws, remove MAF/ÌAT
sensor and housing assembly from air cleaner
housing.
Refit
1. Clean sensor housing and mating face.
2. Fit new sensor and housing to air cleaner
housing and tighten screws to 6 Nm.
3. Connect multiplug to MAF/ÌAT sensor.
4. Fit engine breather pipe connector to air
cleaner housing.
5. Fit upper seal to turbocharger duct and ensure
lower seal to turbocharger is in good condition.
6. Fit turbocharger duct and connect to
turbocharger, engine breather connector and
air cleaner housing.
7. Secure turbocharger duct to air cleaner
housing with clips.
8. Fit air cleaner element.

9. Connect battery earth lead.
