and Attitudes Toward School Use. Computers in the Schools, 31(3), 233250.

INTRODUCTION
Research Questions (if research questions are not specifically mentioned, what is
the theoretical background or overarching theme):
What is the impact of the training process on school administrators use of ipads
for administrative tasks and personal organization in their professional duties?
What is the impact of the training process on school administrators beliefs
regarding how teachers should use IPads in the classroom?
Are there any differences in school administrators survey responses based on
gender, age, years of experience in school administration and education, highest
degree attained, school classification, or school size?
Purpose of the research:
There are many studies about iPad implementation in education, however there is no
sufficient study on how administrators use iPad for their professional and the potential
effects on their work related tasks and personal organization. (Dogan, Almus, 2014)
The study examines that if school administrators receive training about IPad and its
applications how their IPad use will be affected.
METHODOLOGY
What is the methodology for the research or approach used to understand the
issue? Provide information regarding the following:

Participants: Elementary, middle, and high school administrators who work in a

big charter school system.
Procedures: Selected administrators participated to pre-survey. Pre survey
collected demographic information of the participants such as age, years of the
experience as a school admin and years of the experience in education, and also
information such as how admins use their iPads for daily school tasks, what is

their beliefs on effectiveness of ipad for administrative tasks, and how teachers
should use iPad in the classroom. Participants answered the post survey
questions to measure their improvements in certain tasks after the training.
Training included the topics that are iPad skills and use certain workflow, notetaking, calendar, productivity, file-sharing, remote-desktop, presentation, and
screen-sharing applications.
Data Collection Methods/Data Source:
Pre survey
Training session
On-going support
Post survey
Data Analysis:
t-test data analysis
ANOVA
SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences)
RESULTS
Findings or Results (or main points of the article):
In this study school administrators had positive views regarding the potential of
iPads current and future use in the classroom by teachers. The training process
had a positive effect on the school administrators development of iPad skills and
knowledge. (Dogan, Almus, 2014).
School administrators in K5 reported their level of iPad skills and knowledge
higher than administrators of K8 and K12 schools. (Dogan, Almus, 2014).
Furthermore, administrators in K-12 schools reported significantly lower level of
iPad skills and knowledge than administrators of K-5 and K-8 schools. Further
research is required to understand the reasons behind this interesting finding.
(Dogan, Almus, 2014).
School admins used specific iPad applications for work-related purposes in this
study. (Dogan, Almus, 2014).
Also research says School administrators in this study reported valuing the
iPads mobility, the touchscreen, and the ability to use various application
features for workrelated purposes. Thus, iPads as mobile devices with
touchscreens may have the potential to help school administrators become more
visible. (Dogan, Almus, 2014).
After the training process, school administrators reported increases in their iPad
skills and knowledge. According to the results of the post-survey, nearly 80% of
school administrators considered their iPad skills and knowledge at the level of
intermediate to advanced. Results also indicated that applications in the
educational category were the most used types of iPad applications, followed
by communication and books and reference prior to the training. (Dogan,
Almus, 2014).
DISCUSSIONS
Conclusions/Implications (for your profession):
This study examines;

How iPad training effects and improves school administrators iPad use in their
professional duties?
How school administrators use IPad on their daily school duties before the training?
What administrators think about IPad use in the classroom by teachers?
How school administrators used iPad and iPad applications in their professional
duties after training?
What are the beliefs of administrators on how teachers should use iPads in the
classroom?
As a conclusion, we can see the positive effect and improvement on IPad use of
school administrators before and after IPad an IPad apps training.
From my profession as a technology teacher in a middle school, I support using all
types of educational technology applications in the schools and classrooms for all
activities, duties, and tasks. Principals, assistant principals, teachers and students
should be able to benefit from Ipad applications as possible as to meet their
academic goals.
REFLECTIONS
Students Reflections (changes to your understanding; implications for your
school/work):
IPads are devices that are very effective learning tools for both school administrators
and teachers in education. IPads features provide fully interactive and engaging
teaching and learning opportunities for educators. We can use IPad every day for
varied needs, however when we have chance to attend seminars, webinars or any
other training to examine many different educational and administrative tools,
definitely they will improve our skills and implications of IPad in our profession. Even
though some people support that using IPad provides limited advantages in
education, IPads effect students learning tremendously. We can gain many practical
and usable ideas for using IPad in the classroom to increase our students learning
skills and achievements.
