Philosophy of Education
Education today is something very important. It is considered a right in America and needed to
get farther in life and eventually get a good career. The giant factor that contributes to education are
the teachers behind the subjects the children are learning.
One aspect of teaching involves the teachers planning. The educator should be getting to know
their students personalities and the best way that they learn to plan the lessons out. To understand the
content is one of the most important parts, and so if you understand how the students learn, you can
cater to their learning needs. As they learn, you could give small assessments that dont count for
grades just to see how they are learning as the lesson goes on. That way, you can change the original
plans you had and tailor them to better suit your classrooms progress.
As your planning comes to actual instruction, the learning environment and engagement of the
students are two essential parts of the learning experience. For example, depending on the subject you
teach, you can switch up the method in which you teach it. For history, you could have students up and
reenacting different events throughout history. If its a reading activity, get the kids to read out loud
together in groups. The main point behind these different activities is to keep the kids engaged and
prevent boredom. You dont want to be that teacher that just talks at the kids for eight hours a day. As
they start to engage more in the topics, deep thinking will be easier to pull out of them. You have to ask

open ended questions that connect to each other and get deeper and deeper as you ask them. Critical
thinking skills are useful in any way of life and I think need to be incorporated more in curriculums.
Lastly, assessments or testing of the students knowledge is a good way to find out how much
the kids learned and also how well you did your job of educating them. Sometimes assessments are not
the absolute best way to see how much the student absorbed because some kids are simply not good
test takers, but for the majority of students, this is a good tactic. After the student takes the test, its
important that you provide feedback to let them know what they need to work on in the future. If
enough students didnt seem to grasp the idea of a certain topic, I as a teacher would want to go back
and cover that material and have another quiz just on that. I think if most of my students didnt
understand, that would be something I could be blamed for, so more time would just need to be spent
on it. Also, for my assessment, at the end of the year I would give teacher evaluations similar to the
ones we get in college. I want to learn from my students just like they learn from me.
As many people know, education is important and many people all over the world partake in
school. Knowledge is power and countries compete over things like education every day. I want my
classroom to be at its best so my educational philosophy is going to evolve and change every day with
my future students and with the worlds growing knowledge.
