The topic that I am researching is Obamacare or also known as the Affordable Care Act; as well
as the major alterations that in creates in our economy.
I am pursuing the following research questions:
What benefits does Obamacare create in our economy?
Does Obamacare have an impact on our current job market?
What impact does more affordable health care create?

Cosgrove, M. (2010, August 31). Restoring once-vibrant economy hinges on repeal of

Obamacare.
Investors Business Daily. P. A11
The author focuses on the big impact Obamacare has on employment and taxes.
Identifying why employment has decreased in relation to Obamacare. As well as
highlighting the effects Obamacare carries onto taxes. With direct correlations with
Obamacare and thorough explanation, this article is significant to my research.
Furman, J. (2014, February 06). Six economic benefits of the Affordable Care Act. Council of
Economic
Advisors.

The author identifies many benefits to the economy due to Obamacare. Specifically the
significant increase in availability to affordable health care for everyone. As well as all
the advantages that are created as a result from the increase of health care availability.
This article provides valuable facts and information that will solidify my research.
Goldfarb, Z. Goldstein, A. (2014, February 4) Health-care law will prompt over 2 million to quit
jobs or cuts hours, a CBO report says. The Washington Post.
This new article from the Washington Post focuses on the alterations to the job market
due to Obamacare. The author explains various reasons as to why employees will lose
their jobs. In addition, why some employees will purposely cut their own hours in order
to comfortably live under Obamacare. This news article argues the negative effects of
Obamacare and develops a great view in the job market under Obamacare.
Gruber, J. (2011, June) The impacts of the affordable care act: how reasonable are the
projections?
National Bureau of Economic Research.
The author identifies and explains many different benefits that the Affordable Care Act
creates in our economy. The author introduces various estimates and observations
about the Affordable Care Act as well. In addition to the estimates, the author also
breaks down the Massachusetts Case Study. With a great expansion of information and
actual data of the Affordable Care Act in use, this article fits in with this research paper.
Haveman, J., Weinberg, M. (2012, May) The economic impact of the affordable care act on
California. A
Bay Area Council Economic Institute Report.

The authors in this report write about the changes of unfair elements in our current
healthcare system; such as the ability of insurers to deny people coverage for preexisting conditions. They also mention the increase of jobs and the economic growth
that will bring to our country. Finally, the authors inform about the increase of gross
state output. This report is a direct argument to those that oppose the Affordable Care
Act and will be needed in my research paper.
Senger A. (2013, August 26) Obamacares impact on business: an update. The Heritage
Foundation Issue.
Brief #4026 on Health Care.
The author discusses issues that are faced bybusinesses due to Obamacare. As well as
identifying what that means for employers and employees. In addition to underlying
those issues, the author also explains how business growth and success is stunned by
Obamacare. With key arguments and facts, this article will prove useful within my
research.
Trumbull, M. (2012, November 28). Obamacare countdown: How will reform affect the
economy?
Christian Science Monitor. p. N.PAG
The author identifies various situations that Obamacare has created in our current
economy here in the United States. The author identifies the changes in full-time and
part-time employment within big employers. Furthermore, the author identifies the
impact that Obamacare care has on Medicaid and its availability to citizens. This article

is directly relevant to my chosen topic as it identifies some economic issues that arise
when changing or altering our countrys health insurance. One of the biggest impact is
the employment change for full-time. Many companies are getting rid of full-time
employees and hiring more part-time employees to cut down on health insurance costs
now than it is significantly more expensive. This article possesses good information that
should be taken into consideration to determine whether the changes are either good
or bad in our economy.
