English III Charity Are you taking any donations? is what people ask me after they discover my name. I used to get tired of the teasing about Goodwill and donating money to me. But now I see it as a blessing, like the snow days that Louisianans rarely get. Its a never ending form of hope in my family, passed on from generation to generation. My name is rare, not in quantity, but in quality, and is genuine and fragile, like the jewels of Queen Elizabeths crown. It is beautiful, like the sun setting on the lake in the horizon. It is the peace that this world ever so needs. It is the love that is filled within my soul. It is love. I am the fourth Charity in my family. My name is a legacy passed on from my great grandmother, to my mother, to my cousin, then to me. Because of the teasing, I used to be ashamed of my name and told people to call me Alex, short for my middle name, Alexandria. But now I take pride in my name, like Richard Sherman takes pride in himself. I love my name. It isnt just labeling me who I am, but who I am as a person. My love, care, and kindness (not to be mistaken as weakness) is who I am. My name is who I am, and I am Charity.
