T will start the class asking Ss what they


remember about the last tutorial class. T 15 min
will elicit previous knowledge and ask if
Ss can define the strategies taught last
tutorials. T will show definitions again in

What Im going to say

Hello students, today we are going to start reviewing


what we saw in our last tutorials. What can you
remember of last tutorials? (If they answer correctly)
Can you define the strategies that we saw? (If they do
not answer) There were two strategies we talked about,
Skimming and Scanning. Now we are going to do a

short exercise related with these strategies and after


that I am going to introduce you some new strategies
for reading.
Okay girls, now I am going to give you a worksheet
with a short text. You will have to read it and after that
tell me the main idea of each paragraph.

T shows Ss a PPT with the name of the


new strategies. T asks students what
comes to their mine if they read the names
of the strategies. After that T shows the
definition of each strategy and explains
the use and the importance.

Now that we finish the activity, I am going to show


you the name of the strategies we are going to
practice. These are the name of the strategies
(Previewing, Contextualizing and Asking and
Answering Questions). What comes to your mind?
Can you try to guess the meaning? Well this is the
definition of previewing, can anyone read please. This
is the definition for contextualizing and this last is the
definition for Asking and Answering.

T will tell Ss about an activity. The


activity is about relating the three
strategies. T will show Ss a headline of
news and pictures. Ss will have to
preview about what the text can be about.
After that T will ask some questions to Ss 25 min
to contextualize the news. After that Ss
will have to write three questions asking
things they think it can be answered in the
text.
T will give Ss the text and ask them to
read it, get the main ideas and look for the
question they made.

Now I will show you the headline of the news we are


going to read. What comes to your mind this headline?
What about this picture? Now that you preview the
headline, you will have to discuss in groups or in pair
about the topic using these questions. Now that you
finish discussing you will have to create three
questions that you may think the text is going to
answer.

Now that you have your questions I will lend you the
text and you will have to get the main ideas and look
for the answer of the questions you made. Okay, time
is over. I would like to now the main idea of the text
and if you could find the questions that you wrote.

As we finish our activity I would like you to think of


the four strategies we have seen. You will have to

To end the class teacher will tell the

of reading. After that summarize what we
have been doing these last 4 tutorials and

As I said before strategies are important to learn all


English skills and reading is also important (give
reasons). In these last four tutorial classes we were
teaching you different things and hope this can be
