My Classroom Management Beliefs

At the heart of this Classroom Management Plan

are the following core principles of my teaching
philosophy.

MY CLASSROOM
MANAGEMENT
BROCHURE

I believe in always showing the utmost

dignity and respect to every single
student that walks through my
classroom, no matter the circumstances.

I believe in holding students accountable

for their actions and class work.

I believe that everyone is different and

are individuals in the classroom. They
should be treated as unique beings.

I believe in keeping the lessons student

orientated as much as possible. It is the
students I am teaching and not myself,
though I will be learning as we go along.

I believe in never being afraid to own up

to mistakes and sincerely apologize for

them. Everyone is human, and the

students deserve the genuine sincerity of
an apology.

I believe reinforcement of behavior

always has a place in the classroom, yet
it is positive reinforcement that is most
welcome.

TEACHING AND GUIDELINES

At my current teaching assisting placement.

Why I Teach
Teaching has always been a part of who I am.
Since freshman year of High School, I knew

Harry Wong: My Educator

Philosopher and Inspiration

that it was my calling, and that is how I would

give back. My time at Grand Valley State
University has reinforced that drive and the

experience has vastly improved my thoughts

on teaching as well. I hope that I can inspire
others to follow their dreams as I have, and
what better time to do it is that Secondary
age when students are finding themselves.

Tips for Classroom Management:

*While teaching in the classroom, it is more
important to manage than discipline. (Credit to
Harry Wong)
*In being an effective teacher, it is necessary to
put the students' needs before your own. We can
never predict what life at home is like, but we
can control life in the classroom.

1. Students will always need to bring the

essential materials for class every day in order
to help themselves in the learning process.
2. Students will treat themselves and everyone
else in the classroom with respect and dignity.
3. Students will be held accountable for how
they act and handle themselves in class.
4. If you, the student, have a question, no
matter big or small, always ask! Never infer
something is one way when really it is another.
5. Students will always ask permission whenever
you need to leave the classroom or borrow
something from me.

.
I fully agree with Harry Wong's perspective and
therefore consider him as my educational guru. As
I read The First Days of School and watch him
speak in front of assembles of teachers, I become
inspired to follow in his footsteps and take in
everything that he says about teaching. How we
act around our students, and how we associated
with them, needs to always be sincere and
genuine. Students do not always get the best
interactions with adults, and it is up to us to set
the scene with them to show respect and dignity
as Wong has stated.

Tips for Classroom Management:

*Having "rainy day" lesson plans in case, prior lessons
need to change or if one class is ahead, there is
something constructive and engaging for the students
to do.
*It is always important to contact the parents with
something positive before discussing something
negative about their child.
*Have a set discipline plan and following it will help in
managing the classroom, but should not always be a
crutch.
