Practice behaviors

Identify as a professional social


worker and conduct ones-self
accordingly
1.1: Advocate for client access to the services
of social work.
As a social work practitioner, my primary
responsibility lies at the heart with the client;
therefore, at no such time will I compromise
my integrity or commitment to such.

1.2: Practice personal reflection and


self-correction to assure continual
professional development
As an inspire social worker, I will continually
seek out other related services and
professional development training in assuring
myself growth stimulus.

1.3: Attend to professional roles


and boundaries
As a student in the professional field of social
work, I will avoid any and all conflicts that may
pose a serious risk or detriment to well being
of individuals.

1.4: Demonstrate professional


demeanor in behavior, appearance,
and communication
As identified in this field of study, I will
professional maintain a well kept appearance
and demeanor at all times in representation of
my colleagues and all those that came before
me.

1.5: Engage in career-long


learning
As noted above, I will engage in the
representation and career-long initiative that
demonstrates the promotion of human
welfare for all beings adversely effect by poor
social conditions.

1.6: Use supervision and


consultation
I will utilize consultation services and support
intervention strategies to resolve any disputes
that may impinge on me in-order to improve
existing services being offered and provided to
clients.

Gen 2.1: Recognize and manage


personal values in a way that allows
professional values to guide practice.
Ex.
As a School Social Worker I will promote respect, dignity and worth of an
individual while continuing to provide access to much needed services and
community resources.

Gen 2.2: Make ethical decisions by applying standards of the


National Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics

Ex.
I will respect a clients right to both privacy and confidentiality;
unless, that individual has committed a crime or threatened to
harm him/her-self or others.

Gen 2.3: Tolerate ambiguity in resolving ethical conflicts.

Ex.
I will avoid conflicts of interest that interfere with my ability to
use professional judgment.

Gen 2.4: Apply strategies of ethical reasoning to arrive at


principled decisions.
Ex.

Conscious decisions relating to a students learning environment


and the impact it have on an individual functioning to arrive at
sound ethical decision making initiatives.

Gen 4.1: Recognize the extent


to which a cultures
structures and values may
oppress, marginalize,
alienate, create or enhance
privilege and power.
When engaging in conversation with

individuals who have language


barriers, I will bring in an interpreter to
translate or to communicate spoken
words that I am trying to relay to my
clients.

Gen 5.1: Understand the


forms and mechanisms of
oppression and
discrimination.
I will not engage, condone, nor collaborate in any form of
injustices due to an individuals race, color or the breed of
their skin. In doing so; I will seek to educate myself in multiple
ways that I can create opportunities for members of groups to
identify their similarities, differences, and distinguishing
features (traits).

Gen 5.2: Advocate for


human rights, social and
economic justice.
I will take a human rights approach in analyzing situations
drawn from the experiences in my past to help solve problems
within my community and in working with clients.

I will engage in such practices as: social justice organizations and
community service groups to assume a more participatory role in
issues relating to social injustices and economic disparity.

reasonable steps necessary to provide both
my colleagues and clients with the
prerequisite methods necessary for them to
discover relationships for themselves.

I will attend all employee and staff
professional development trainings to further
promote and enhance my understanding of how
to identify and implement an effective
intervention.

I will devote more of my time and energy into the
understanding of human behavior and their patterns by
studying how the impact of biological forces such as a
persons genetic makeup, and their external environment
can play a substantial role into both the shaping and
molding of an individual.

Gen 8.1: Analyze, formulate, and


advocate for policies that
advance social well-being.
I will advocate for changes in policy that
will promote and improve the social
conditions of my clients.
Ex.
Government funding and federal grants for
the needy
Equal opportunity for employment and
working conditions.
When these are good, they can provide
financial security, and protection from
physical and psychosocial illnesses.

colleagues and clients for
effective policy action.
I will seek the advice and guidance of others whenever
consultation is in the best interest of my clients.

To plan an effective intervention plan.

EP 2.1.9 : Respond to
contexts that shape
practice.

Gen 9.1 : Continuously discover, appraise,


and attend to changing locales,
populations, scientific and technological
developments, and emerging societal trends
to provide relevant services.
I will continue to employ multiple resource outlets such as the
digital media, the internet, and my mobile phone to analyze how
societal trends and influences may impact the relationship between
customer satisfaction and quality management in order to connect
with my clients in delivering good quality service.

sustainable changes in service delivery and
practice to improve the quality of social
services.
As a person authorized to act as a representative
for another, I will work on my ability to provide
expedient and effective services to my clients, and
the community in an appropriate, efficient, and
suitable manner.

EP 2.1.10 : Engage, assess,


intervene, and evaluate
with individuals, families,
groups, organizations, and
communities.

Gen 10.1 : Substantively and affectively


prepare for action with individuals, families,
groups, organizations, and communities.
As a school social worker, and being part of the schools
improvement team, making student referrals action plans
includes coordinating meetings with their parents, family
members and other student support personnel.

Gen 10. 2: Use empathy and other


interpersonal skills.
Communicating effectively and reflecting on other people
situations from another perspective helps me to value the
uniqueness of everyone's situation differently.

Gen 10.3: Develop a mutually


agreed-on focus of work
Contract behavior plans provides me and my client both the
right to develop a mutually agreed-on focus and the potential to
establish desirable outcomes.

Gen 10.4: Collect, organize,


and interpret client data.
In conducting an IEP referral assessments are utilized to
help determine an individuals best course of action.
I.e. Modification Plan, Accommodations, and Student Support
Interventions.

Gen 10.5: Assess client strengths


and limitations
Each student that have a PEP plan allows me the
opportunity to assess a student weakness and prior strength
in relation to identifying their target goals.

Gen 10.6: Develop mutually agreed-on


intervention goals and objectives
For each student that struggles academically, it is my duty and
obligation to find the areas that needs improvement and to
coordinate the individuals efforts in establishing a mutually
agreed-on focus for a plan of attack.

Gen 10.7: Select appropriate


interventions that enhance client
capacities
In making referrals and in identifying at risk students for
Behavioral Modification Plans, Individualize Educational Plans,
and Student Support Assistance, etc. as a School Social Worker
placing a student in the least restrictive environment allow the
student to make a smooth transition back into placement

Gen 10. 8: Initiate actions to


achieve organizational goals.
In providing student support intervention strategies and
student learning incentives, I can better facilitate my
organizational team goals by helping out each student
individually.

Gen10. 9: Implement prevention


interventions that enhance client
capacities
With the implementation of target goal strategies and
behavior support contracts I can develop and evaluate the
effectiveness of student outcome.

Gen 10.10: Help clients resolve problems


Social worker sometimes act as conflict mediator in resolving
their client grievances and complaints.
Ex. between teacher and student
parent and guardian, etc.

Gen 10. 11: Negotiate, mediate, and


advocate for clients.
As a social worker, I often guide parties through the making of
a very smooth transition in effective problem solving by:
Creating a comfortable environment for the discussion;
Making sure the discussion stays on track;
Assisting the parties to identify and communicate their
priorities and concerns; and
Supporting clients in reaching an agreement.

Gen 10. 12: Facilitate transitions and


endings.
In ensuring that all clients receive an unbiased and fair
determination of services, my service delivery will end when I
can no longer serve the clients best interest or needs.

Gen 10. 13: Social Workers


critically analyze, monitor, and
evaluate interventions.
As a social worker, I will prevent all negative influences
and/or colleague bias who do not equate to the advancement
of a clients social being in critically analyzing effective
interventions for myself within the boundaries of my scope I.e.
professionalism, practice, and education.
