1. According to Marx, what was the essential force that drives history?
Marx argued that class struggle was the essential force that drives forward historical
progress and published his thoughts in Communist Manifesto.
2. Who were the exploited group in society according to Marx and why were they
exploited?
The proletariats were the exploited group in society who were exploited because they
were poor. They were forced to work almost as slaves for the dominant class.
3. What did he believe would resolve this issue of exploitation?
Karl Marx believed that if everyone owned all things in common, class distinctions
would be erased, and the class struggle that had been around in history since the
beginning of time would be erased.
4. Marx died well before the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia. Would he have believed
that the Bolsheviks were proof of his belief that the workers would unite? Why or why
not.
No, although the workers did unite they did not follow Marxs ideas. Instead Lennon
based his ideas off of Karl Marxs but gave it a twist so that they could have all the power
in their hands. Because of Lennon, Marxs form of government, communism, was never
really looked at seriously again.
