We all are guilty for trying to be someone we are'nt. BEGIN INTRO _______________________ Ephesians 2:10 says "For we are Gods masterpiece. He has created us new in Chris t Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." So we are created in the image of Christ. Therefore , we are to do the things God has planned for us. **read paragraph in Journey to Freedom** " Can you think of a time when you sh owed up at a place where no one knew you? Maybe it was first day at a brand new school, or at a camp. Or maybe a sports te am you just joined. No matter what place it was, the fact is no one knew who you were. How would you introduce yourself? As a dancer or reader? A great artist or brill iant student? As a Christ follower or a faith skeptic? Our decisions h ave the ability to impact our future. Since we can not change the past, we have to face this day, tomorrow, and with an unde rstanding of who we are. We need to figure out our identity because what we believe about ourselves will impact our decisio ns and how we go about living the life God has given us. _ Our identity can either have us to crawl up in a corner, fee ling worthless and rejected, or call us to step out in bold, courageous faith to do THAT THING we long to accomplish. Do n't missunderstand me though, I am not saying that 'thing' should define us. We need to find our identity-how we define oursel ves-in what God has to say about us. When we understand His truth, then we can make decisions that enable us to accomplish th at 'thing' with a godly purpose. WHO we are, is really a matter of WHOSE we are. _Our identity is established by God as we enter a relationship with His son, Jesus Christ. When we put our faith in Jesus, by believing that He died on the cross for our sin, we recieve a brand new identity that comes from being a member of the family of God. _ As Ephesian s 2:10 describes"...we are Gods masterpiece ...created a new..", but do you know what this means? Do you know what God made you for? Does asking this question frighten you? Or do you think it is pointless to even consider the purpose God has for yo ur life? _According to the Bible, God says we are His masterpieces, His precious daughters, made even more beautiful by fai th in Christ. HE recieves us as we are and wants to make us more..more like Him. He wants to use our perfectly-designed liv es for His purpose. And it is in discovering that purpose that we begin to experience the joutney to freedom we crave. _Toget her we're going to look at what we believe about ourselves, what God says about who we are, and how impacted by what others have to say about us, and how we can live in the freedom of embracing our identity in Christ. And THAT is the Journey To F reedom! ________________________________________________________________________________ ____________ ACTIVITY: Give each girl a piece of paper and something to draw with.
