Unfortunately I didn't learn about this terrifying Navy project until today. The
deadline for public comment is tomorrow, October !, "#!$. %ou may submit

send a comment, however brief, before the deadline.

)riefly, the Navy is proposing to turn a large part of *ashington's magnificent
Olympic +eninsula, as well as a portion of northeastern *ashington, into
,lectronic *arfare training ranges. - giant antenna resembling a house.si/ed
golfball will be installed at the Naval &tation at 0oclips, just outside the
1uinault Indian 2eservation on the Olympic +eninsula. -ccording to the data
in the ,nvironmental -ssessment, I calculate that it will have an effective
power of 3 million watts. It will be capable of sending 4$ simultaneous beams
at fre5uencies of between " and !6 78/. The golfball will only be $# feet off
the ground.

In addition, three mobile, truc9.mounted antennas will be moved around
between !3 different sites in the Olympic National 'orest, and three more
mobile antennas will operate from 6 different locations in the O9anagan and
:olville National 'orests in northeastern *ashington. They will each have a
power of !##,### watts, and will be in use "4# days a year, 6 to !4 hours a
day. The city of 'or9s will be directly in the line of fire, right between three of
these locations and the +acific Ocean. The locations in the :olville National
'orest are ne;t to the :olville Indian 2eservation, about <# miles northwest of
&po9ane, and one is only miles from the city of Oroville.

In addition, U8' transmitters will be added to an e;isting tower on Octopus
0ountain in the Olympic +eninsula for communication with aircraft and ships.

Needless to say, the peace of the Olympic +eninsula will be destroyed
forever. The radiation in both locations will impact predominantly native
-mericans.
