This letter provides support for a project called "Construction of a Wind Pump for Water Supply and Irrigation in Rural Areas of the High Valleys of the Department of La Paz". The letter writer and their institution are familiar with the project proposal and interested in formally collaborating. Their institutions share common goals of providing educational opportunities for students, scholarship opportunities for faculty, and improving living conditions for rural populations needing water. Specific support offered includes mentoring an undergraduate student, supervising graduate student analyses of the wind pump's environmental response, and participating in a site visit. The collaboration is believed to have strong potential to generate meaningful results based on the writer's institution's history with water and renewable energy projects in Latin America.

Subject: Support for project Construccin de Bomba Elica para dotacin de Agua Potable y Riego a zonas rurales de los valles altos del Departamento de La Paz Dear Ing. Mayori, I am providing this letter of support in my native language, English. If necessary, I can provide a Spanish translation at a later date. My colleagues and I are familiar with the subject proposal that is categorized under Proyectos de Investigation e Interaction Social for funding under the Convocatoria de Fondos Concusables IDH 2013- 2014 program. We are interested in formally collaborating with your institution, Engineers in Action, and Engineers Without Borders to execute the work described in the proposal. Our institutions share common interest in performing academic research projects that have the potential to: Provide educational opportunities for our students Provide scholarship opportunities for our faculty members Improve the living conditions of rural populations in need of reliable water supplies We can provide the following tangible support to the project: Mentorship of a student participating in our National Science Foundation-sponsored Research Experience of Undergraduates program during the summer of 2013 Supervision of graduate students executing analyses of the response of the subject wind-powered pump to environmental factors Participating in a reconnaissance visit to the study site We have a strong history of water-related research in Latin America, and we have successfully completed renewable energy research in Guatemala. We believe that the collaboration between our organizations has the strong potential to generate meaningful results. Very truly yours;
