Why rats and chimps considered to be useful in experimenting human
products.

Rats and chimps are considered to be so useful in animal experiments to test
products for humans, this is because they are very closely related in our DNA,
chimps has 99% of our DNA.

Laws across the world that ban animals experimentation

Europe: Experiments on vertebrate animals in the European Union are
subject to Directive 86/609/EEC on the protection of Animals used for
Experimental and other scientifc purposes, adopted in 1986.

France: In France, legislation requires an institutional and project license
before testing on vertebrates is carried out. An institution must submit details
of their facilities and the reason for the experiments, after which a fve-year
license may be granted following an inspection of the premises.

New Zealand: New Zealands Animal Welfare Act 1999[45] requires owners
and people in charge of animals to ensure the physical, health and behavioral
needs of animals are met, and that pain and distress are alleviated.
Issue: Is it Ethical to experiment on animals?
If we experiment on animals it allows humans to solve problems such as diseases and
health related issues. But if we don't experiment on animals then medicine will not only be
dangerous but very costly.
Experimenting on animals
If we experiment on animals we will have a better understanding of what efects the
products we use will have and will be able to fx it. There are some alternatives like human
cell based test tubes but they aren't as reliable and we won't know what a real human or
animal would feel. Though it's harsh, testing on animals will help humans with creating new
products that help us solve current problems.
What are
ethics?
Ethics is knowing what is
right or wrong. Ethical actions
are what is right or accepted
within a community or country. Knowing what is
ethical and what is not will help
create a better community but
everyone has a diferent idea of
what is ethical.
Examples of ethical actions
- Giving animals their natural habitats
- Preserving and saving lives
- Helping people in need
- protecting nature
Why are rats and chimps
used most in
experiments?
Rats and chimps are close to humans
in terms of animals which hopefully
help us to in that it will have a similar
efect on us.

Countries that ban experiments done on animals
Products that were made or tested at the cost of harming animals are currently banned in
all the countries in Europe. A few other countries don't allow experiments to be done on
animals in their country but still import products from other countries which allow it.
