Volume Task B - I can solve real world and mathematical problems involving volume.

Using unit cubes build rectangular prisms using the following dimensions:
a. 5 x 4 x 4 b. 3 x 4 x 5

Sketch the figures below.
Figure A Figure B

Using the given formulas determine the volume of each rectangular prism and record below.
V = (l x w) x h or V = b x h
Figure A Figure B

Count the amount of unit cubes in each figure to check your answer.

Imagine Figure A and Figure B represented juice boxes being sold at the movie theatre. If both boxes cost the
same price, which juice box would you purchase? Justify your response below.

What is the volume of the rectangular prisms below?

CUBE
Exploring Volume in the Real World!
You are going to predict and discover the volume of the inside of your cubby hole.
Before measuring the volume (the amount of space the object occupies), PREDICT
how many inch cubes it would take to fill it up.
Measure the length, width, and height in cubic inches (using the inch cubes.)
Remember, you may not need to fill up the entire object in order to find the volume.
You must write a description of HOW you found the actual volume, AS WELL AS
use numbers to show how you found the volume.
