How to write a Summary
1- Look for the main ideas. Ask yourself: What is this about? What does the writer sant to tell me? 2- Look for key words. Use the key words in your summary. 3- Eliminate details. Keep only what is needed to help state the main idea or ideas. Examples are ususally not necessary. 4- Be concise. A summary is always shorter than the original. 5- Keep essentials. Do not be so brief that your summary in unclear. If a detail is really needed, use it briefly. 6- Look up any unfamili8ar words in the dictionary.
