Assignment 1: Information Literacy

There has been many complaints regarding the ios update dealing with the Apple Iphone.
According to the article many customers are having to deal with deleting everything on their phone in
order to even download the upgrade. ustomers have gone to complaining on social media li!e
Twitter"Instagram# so that their voices can be heard. They are frustrated with the Apple company
because along with the update also came a bug that seems to be slowing their phones down and causing
more problems. These people feel as though they are deleting their whole lives for an upgrade. $ost
have said to have deleted pictures# music# apps and much more. They are just so outraged that they
have begun showing their annoyance through social media.
The two search engines I ended up using were %oogle and &ing. I believe that %oogle was a
much better search engine than &ing. I say this because I got more recent article and didn't have to
search long. I found relevant topics to match my first topic in the first two pages of %oogle. (hen I
used &ing I had to search longer for articles that were current. $ost articles were ones from places li!e
(i!ipedia and were not a reputable source. It too! me a while to find an article that was actually worth
reading. Also the !ey words I used )users frustrated with ios update* may have been apart of the
problem. (hen you use &ing it's better when you use !ey phrases but with %oogle you can put
anything and find what you need.

This article is very related to my topic and is tal!ing about how customers are upset. They also e0plain
more problems and how they are e0pressing their problems through social media.

A+ The authors name is $eg (agner. I believe that she is very 1ualified to write about this
topic. I say this because this article was place in the 2ew 3or! 4aily 2ews. This means that she must
be a journalist and that it is her job to write about topics li!e this.
A+ 2o# the information is not trustworthy because a journalist could be writing anything to get
publicity. 3es# it is supported by evidence being that a journalist goes out to people and gets
information. Though it's not trustworthy because it can be bias and based off of customers who are only
having problems with the update.
5+ This article was written to persuade that Apple customers were upset with the ios updates. It
was also made so that people would see the headline and want to buy the daily news. It also very bias
because it doesn6t have anything but negative comments in it.
(hen I used the & library database I tried to to use the science"technology section but
nothing was coming up. ,o# then I had to go to A&I"Inform and use the business database. I used this
one ne0t because most business people use Iphones and I thought more articles would pop up. I had to
type many different versions of the topic I was searching for. The !ey words were

(hen I was loo!ing for my articles it was a lot easier to find them on the internet. The library's
database didn't have many articles to choose from. It too! me longer to find journal articles than it did
for me to find all the other ones. I had to !eep switching up my !ey words and going to different
databases in order to find what I needed. The journal articles were not was current as the internet ones#
but you get more authority from the journal ones. The internet ones are from journalists and they can
say anything in their articles and still have someone to answer to. (hile the journal articles are from
$edia %roup LL and have more authority by being a big corporation.
