Correspondence Course

It comes to us through the ages and is an innitely important bearer of our culture. Monica
Dengo has been studying and developing new approaches to handwriting for the last fteen
years. While teaching to art and graphic design students, she became aware of their need for
personal expression and the lack of a handwriting culture inWestern society. This course is the
result of many years of teaching Western calligraphy and handwriting to students from many
parts of the world, including Italy, Belgium, France, Holland, Norway, Japan, the United States,
India, China, Bulgaria, Lutuania, Iran, Lebanon and many others.
The course offers the study of both historical and contemporary Italic handwriting. There are
exercises to guide the students to the understanding of writings visual rules, as well as a deve-
lopment of writing as a practice for our personal expression, visual imagination and creativity.
Historical models will be the foundation of our studies.
The courses structure allows participants to work at their own pace. There are no specic due
dates; however students must complete the course within 6 month of the subscription date. The
course consists of three sequential lessons. Each lesson will require at least 20-25 hours of work.
Completed lessons are to be sent to Monica Dengo, the course tutor, who will make comments
on the work within a week and return it by mail. Individual conversations between the student
and the teacher will be encouraged, but are not mandatory.
CERTI FI CATI ON
Participants will receive, along with the last mailing, a certicate with a statement of comple-
tion.
COSTS
The cost for the 3 lessons course is $ 250.00. The fee covers the mailing of the assignments and
the return mailing costs of the completed lessons. Each participant is responsible for the mailing
