Remote computing

Sometimes you may need to get a datafile that's on another computer, or
to work on a computer that's not at your desk.

The easiest way to accomplish these tasks is to use a network. Local area
networks (LAN) and wide area networks (WAN) allow you to access data
and use information distributed among many computers.

If your system is on a network, you can transfer files to and from other
computers, log in remotely, and run applications or commands on remote
computers.
