SSPC’s PCI Program To Be Held in UAE, India

SSPC’s Protective Coating Inspector (PCI) Program will be held in the UAE and India in
July and August. The class size for each offering is limited to 24 students.

SSPC's PCI program has been approved by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) as
equivalent to NACE Coating Inspector Level 2 and FROSIO Inspector Level III. ABS is
the world’s second largest commercial shipping classification society.

Here are details for these overseas courses.

• The program is scheduled for July 3–8 at Petroleum Institute Abu Dhabi UAE. The

• A second UAE offering is scheduled for August 14–21 at IQC Dubai Airport Free Zone,

• The program will also be held in India July 20–26 at the Blastline Institute of Surface
Preparation & Painting, located at L F Plaza, Pottakuzhi, Kaloor-Perandoor Road

The PCI program standards are based on and designed to meet the Body of Knowledge
in ASTM D 3276 Standard Guide for Painting Inspectors (Metal Substrates). The
objective of the course is to thoroughly train individuals in the proper methods of
inspecting surface preparation and installing industrial and marine protective coatings
and lining systems on an array of industrial structures and facilities.

The PCI course is intended for coatings project managers, quality managers, inspectors,
contractor supervisory level personnel, coating specification writers, coatings or
equipment suppliers, coating consultants, or technical service representatives involved
in the steel protective coatings industry.

Program attendees receive a training certificate. Attendees who complete the course
and pass the course exam with a score of 70% or better become eligible to receive a
PCI Basic Inspector level card.
