In order to differentiate our instruction and ensure students have the best chance of growing in Mathematics, they are
arranged into classes according to their current skill level.
o + & - fractions (fluency)
o x & fractions (understanding)
o 2 digit divisors
o decimal fractions place value
o operations with decimals to hundredths
o whole number and decimal operations (fluency)
o volume (understanding)
o ratio/rate
o division of fractions (fluency)
o rational numbers, negative numbers
o writing, interpreting, using expressions and equations
o developing understanding of statistical thinking
o reasoning about relationships to determine area, surface area,
and volume
English Language Arts (ELA)
Ms. De Caro & Mrs. McNeese
ELA is integrated throughout the curriculum in our Integrated Studies classes.
o Determine themes of a drama from detail in the text, including
how characters respond to challenges; summarize the text
o Conduct short research projects that use several sources to
build knowledge through investigation of different aspects of a
topic
o Summarize the points a speaker makes and explain how each
claim is supported by reason and evidence
o Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English
grammar and usage when writing and speaking
o Explain functions of conjunctions, prepositions, and
interjections in general and their function in particular
sentences
o Analyze how a particular sentence, chapter, scene, or stanza fits
into the overall structure of a text and contributes to the
development of the theme, setting, or plot
o Engage and orient the reader by establishing a context and
introducing a narrator and/or characters
o Use technology, including the Internet, to produce and publish
writing as well as to interact and collaborate with others;
demonstrate sufficient command of keyboarding skills to type a
minimum of three pages in a single sitting
o Delineate a speakers argument and specific claims,
distinguishing claims that are supported by reasons and
evidence from claims that are not
o Use the relationship between particular words (eg
cause/effect, part/whole, item/category) to better understand
each of the words
