CLASS OVERVIEW

SKETCHBOOKS
Students will be required to keep a sketchbook that will help them practice and expand on the skills and
techniques being taught in class. These will be collected and reviewed throughout the semester.

CLASS PARTICIPATION
Students will be expected to participate in class discussions regarding project expectations, techniques
and materials, as well as specific artists being studied.

PROJECT DUE DATES & LATE WORK POLICY
Due dates are approximate and vary based on the demands of the project, as well as the pace of the
students in the class. Typically, when four or five students have finish the project, I will evaluate how far
along the other students are, and set an appropriate due date at that time, ensuring each student will
have enough time to adequately complete the assignment. The due date is the time when all work
pertaining to that project will stop, and finished work will be turned in to be graded. Students who may
be behind due to excused absences will have extra time to work on their project before school, after
school or during a specific time that is pre-arranged with me.

SCHOLASTIC ART MAGAZINE
Throughout the semester, students will be referencing articles in Scholastic Art Magazine. The
magazine focuses on famous artists, specific pieces of art or genres of art, as well as exploring cultural
and historical influences on art.
