Course Description
The Agriculture Life Science course is an introductory course in the basic biological principles aimed at
understanding life processes common to living things. Major areas of emphasis will include cellular biochemistry,
cell structure, genetics, ecology, physiology, and evolution. In addition students will gain experience through
leadership development, FFA, Leadership, SAE projects, and career exploration in the area of agriculture.

Classroom Expectations
The following classroom expectations should be noted for a successful year.

1. Be On Time Students are expected to be in their seat with materials out when the bell rings. Failure to do
so will result in a tardy.
2. Be Considerate Be aware and courteous to the people and things around you. The classroom is a shared
space and should be treated as such.
3. Be Prepared Come to class ready to learn. This includes having all necessary materials as well as a
mindset conducive to learning. Stay organized and on top of all assignments.
4. Be Respectful Everyone is expected to maintain a level of respect in the classroom. This means
respecting peers and teachers ideas, opinions, work, and personal items. I will respect you and I expect
the same in return.
5. Be Responsible You EARN your grade in this class; I dont GIVE it to you. As a result you are
responsible for obtaining missed assignments including notes, handouts, etc. It is up to you to collect
missing assignments. Plan ahead if you know you will be absent.

Discipline Procedures
Class discipline procedures are based on the severity of the situation and follow school procedures.

Classroom Norms
1. Be prepared and in your assigned seat when the bell rings.
2. As the bell rings and the teacher takes role you should begin working on the daily warm-up or task of the
day.
3. All material from class (handouts, notes, assignments, etc.) should be placed in your notebook for later
reference. There will be random binder checks throughout the semester. DO NOT THROW AWAY
ASSIGNMENTS!
4. Utilize your time in class wisely to finish assignments and get clarification from the teacher.
5. Any assignment turned in after the due date is worth half credit.
6. There is no food or sodas allowed in this classroom. (water only)
7. Electronic devices may be allowed in class at the teachers discretion. (ask before assuming)
8. Ask permission before going to the bathroom. (3 free bathroom passes per quarter)
9. Clean up your own mess as well as the entire classroom at the end of every period.
10. The class is dismissed by the teacher not the bell, only when the classroom is clean, quiet and everyone
seated in their assigned seat will the class be dismissed.

1. Binder with 3 dividers
2. Spiral Notebook
3. Pencil or Pens (Blue or Black only)
4. Colored Markers or Pencils
5. Highlighter

Grading Based on a percentage (90-100 = A, 80-89 = B, 70-79 = C, 60-69 = D, 0-59 = F)
It is your responsibility to obtain missed work from the teacher. If you know you will
be absent ahead of time please make arrangements with the teacher. Quizzes will be
given at random, therefore its important to be in class. Make-ups for quizzes will only be given for excused
absences. Tests and projects are given at the end of each unit and tests are made up by appointment only. Work
must be turned in on the day it is due, anything turned in late is worth half credit, unless prior arrangements have
been made with the teacher.

FFA, SAE, and Record books
If a student wishes to participate at fairs and shows through the FFA as well as earn the rewards, degrees, and
scholarships that are available to FFA members, they must participate in the FFA and SAE portions of this
agriculture program. Each student is required to participate in a MINIMUM of 3 FFA activities per semester and
maintain an up-to-date record book for their SAE.
