Prediction of Jesus’ birth
800 years before it:

“But you, O Bethlehem … are only a

small village among all the people of
Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel will come
from you. --Micah 5:2
6 And while they were there, the time came
for her baby to be born.
7 She gave birth to her first child, a son. She

wrapped him snugly in strips of cloth and

laid him in a manger, because there was no
lodging available for them.

The heavenly son of an earthly mother

came down to our level
so He could raise us up
to a new level.
 8 That night there were shepherds staying in
the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of
sheep.
9 Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared

among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s

glory surrounded them.
They were terrified …

God is here – but it’s not good news.
110But the angel reassured them. “Don’t be
afraid!” he said. “I bring you good news that
will bring great joy to all people.
11 The Savior—yes, the Messiah, the Lord—has

been born today in Bethlehem, the city of

David!
What you’ve done is irrelevant.
It’s Good News because of what God
has done –
sent a Savior = To deliver from the
penalty of sin.
“God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the
offering for our sin, so that we could be made
right with God through Christ.” --2 Corinthians 5:21
13 Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast
host of others—the armies of heaven—praising
God and saying,
 14 “Glory to God in highest heaven, and on
earth, peace to those on whom His favor
rests.”

God gets the credit; we get the

peace.
There is no fear in love.
But perfect love
drives out fear,
because fear
has to do
with punishment.” --1 John 4:18
When you get the message that Jesus
has taken your punishment for you – get it
from your head to your heart – God replaces
your fears with His peace.

Exchange your
glory (self-efforts) for
His peace and favor.
