My reflection assignment is based on North Carolina at school report card, Centennial

Campus middle school. According to the information from the public school of North Carolina
State Board of education. The Centennial campus middle school is slightly below district average
in math and reading. The six grade reading score is 46.9 %, math score 33.7%. In the seventh
grade reading for 40.9%, and math score 46.8%. In the eighth grade is 46.8% and reading and
28.9% and math. With an oval average of 44.9% in reading and 32.9% in math.
Centennial campus middle school has just below 50% test scores in reading, and compared to
the district is just above 50%. With comparing the scores of Centennial campus middle schools
to the school district it's not much of a difference, the over all district score 54.1% in reading and
54.3% in math. The state overall average in reading is 43.9% ,and math 42.3% Which means
most of the children at this school are performing higher than state of NC average in reading.
At Centennial middle school there is a 42.6% of students that are not economically
disadvantaged(NED), and only 8.8% of students that are economically disadvantage(ED). This
show that this school is in a predominantly well-to-do neighborhood, which means the school
has more resources then a less disadvantage middle school or a school in a poverty stricken area.
At Centennial campus middle the students with disabilities are 8.7% and the district is 10.1%,
but this does not reflect students with handicaps. This school probably has more resources and
IEP's is why their test scores are so close to the district test scores or higher in the states scores.
Based on the schools reported number of violence they do not have much conduct disorders,
which is students with socio-emotional and behavioral disorders that give indicated in individual
who are disobedient or disruptive. With only 568 students in this school there were only three all
acts of crime or violence.
Based on the school I did my field study which was Rocky Mountain high school. I had a
chance to reflect on RMHS and the centennial campus middle school. Looking at the North
Carolina report card this is a very different school from Rocky Mount high school, centennial
campus Middle has a large population of upper-class children where Rocky Mount high school is
a very large diversity of students.
Based on the oval or information given from North Carolina report card I would allow my
child to attend this school. According to the test scores his school must have been using
instructional objectives; the skill or concept that students should master after a given period of
instructions. Centennial campus middle is also probably having more formative evaluations, this
to be another reason why the students test scores are so high. The students Centennial campus
middle may also be taught different test taking strategies, for example they may know different
words to look for when answering True and false questions. The teachers may also be using
effective objectives which based on student achievement and values.
North Carolina is considering paying teaches based on the school's test performance. Which I
disagree with this decision.
