Teaching:

At the present time, I have now taught all class in the Reading Specialty
Program at least once. I have also taught both reading classes in the Initial
License and Instructional practice M. Ed program in order to familiarize
myself with the content and textbook.
Taught TRALA in the undergraduate program. Fall 2013
Interviewed and served as a mentor to students in reading specialty
program. Met with advisees on a regular basis who were struggling in some
part of the program. Conducted phone interviews, attended notice of
concern meetings, and had email correspondence with two students who
were terminating the program.
I was able to integrate the use of the I-Pad with many apps into my teaching
practice this school year. I had continuous contact with Dr. Hope Nordstrom
to mentor me as I integrated technology into my own practice as well as
introduced literacy technology to my students. One example of this
integration was using a presentation tool called a Pecha Kucha. Students
were introduced to this technology presentation tool and then required to
use it in an assignment. Another tool I introduced my students to was the
use of QR codes in childrens literature to teach close reading strategies.
Both of these tools were successful to me as the professor and the students
stated in their reflections they would use both tools in their own practice.
During this year, I was able to sit in on several adjunct faculty interviews
with Dr. Morel and Dr. Vetter. I was able to provide feedback and input
during the hiring process. I worked very closely as a mentor to Dr. Suzanne
Hayes during instruction with her first class at LU. I also provided guidance
and advice to Mrs. Chandra Verbic and Mrs. Nancy Dow over the 2013-14
school year. In addition, I provided literacy training to adjuncts teaching in
the Initial License and Instructional Practice programs at the request of Dr.
Vetter.
I assisted Dr. Vetter in redesigning the syllabi and assignments for the
reading classes in the Initial License and Instructional Practice program.
Taught orientation and graduation classes.
Facilitator/MNPS Glengarry Partnership: Trained teachers twice per month
