Why literary criticism and history of literature were developed on
newspapers, and not in printed books or the university?
CRI OLLO LI TERARY CRI TI CI S M
I propose, as a hypothesis, the notion of criollo
literary criticism as an epistemic artifact
developed by Spanish American elites, of
predominantly Peninsular origin, during the last
decades of the Eighteenth-Century, that would
think the social and cultural difference of the
Americas through, well beyond the very
feasibility of political independence.
