Exam Study Guide

INTRODUCTION This May you will be taking your IB Biology examination. The exam consists of three papers, each th th paper addresses all of the topics covered in 11 and 12 grade. The comprehensive nature of the exam requires extreme preparation. In order to help you prepare, you will be working as a class to create a weebly website that will act as a study guide. Time: 6 block periods (1.5 hours each) to create the site, approx. 5 weeks to complete the study guide. OBJECTIVES IB biology has 10 topics, each of which contains a series of assessment statements. The assessments in each topic are the objectives for the course. Due to the comprehensive nature of this project listing individual statements is not feasible. I have included a link to the full set of assessment statements below. IB ASSESSMENT STATEMENTS

ACTIVITY/PROCESS Step 1: Choose your individual topic Students can choose their own topics Teachers can assign topics based on the areas students most need to work on Teachers can provide a randomizer for topics Students can write down top 3 choices and teachers can create groups for chapters (Larger classes) Step 2: Find resources for use on your webpage (some resources have been included on this website) Students must include background/tutorial information on the topic Students must include a video for at least one assessment statement Students must include some sort of activity (interactive technology or hand-written) Students must include a method of assessing what was learned. Step 3: Create your webpage (Layout) Each page should have its own tab with the topic serving as its title Each page must have the name of the student responsible for creating that page Each page must include the resources listed above, and each resource should be appropriately titled. Each assessment statement should have its own section Each section must include a title that includes the assessment statement number (ex. 3.1.3)

Step 4: Create a rubric for your section Students can create a checklist style rubric Students can create an excel sheet rubric to add up points and create averages Students can use Rubistar for teachers A rubric should be created for your activity A rubric should be created for the assessment

Step 5: Complete the study guide Students will begin with Topic 1 and work their way through to Topic 10 skipping their own chapter. Students must use the resources provided by their classmates. Students must complete the activity provided in each topic, using the rubric to ensure proper completion. Students must complete the assessment for each topic using the rubric as a guideline. Students will be responsible for taking a Mock exam (to be found on a separate page of the website) as a summative assessment for the project in its entirety.
