En este primer post dedicado a la obra del estupendo artista tinerfeo Jorge Prez, me centrar en las pinturas y dibujos de la ltima exposicin que presenta en stos das en la sala "Los Lavaderos" de Santa Cruz. Todas las fotografas (excepto la primera y el boceto de Sagitario) son mas. Ms adelante publicar imgenes de trabajos anteriores. In this first post dedicated to the works of the great Tenerife artist Jorge Perez, I will focus on the paintings and drawings of the latest ongoing exhibition in "Los Lavaderos" (Santa Cruz). All photographs - except the first one and the sketch of Sagittarius - are mine. Later I'll post images of his previous work.

Jorge Prez Rodrguez es un artista nacido en La Laguna (Tenerife, Islas Canarias), donde reside actualmente. Estudi cuatro aos de Diseo Grfico en la Escuela de Arte Fernando Estvez y obtuvo su Licenciatura en Bellas Artes por la Facultad de Bellas Artes de La Laguna. Aunque, segn dice, "la mayor formacin la he adquirido en mi mesa de trabajo a la hora de investigar y probar cosas nuevas." En cuanto a su estilo: "Me voy a definir como me definen por ah... hiperrealista. Vamos a dejarlo as. Es una obra, digamos fantstica, que tiende al realismo".

"Piscis / Pisces", leo y tcnica mixta sobre papel, sobre tabla / Oil and mixed media on paper mounted on wood panel, 100 x 40 cm., 2013 "Lo primero es tener una buena idea, que puede venir de la manera ms inesperada, viendo una pelcula, caminando en la playa, hablando con alguien, etc., una vez tengo la idea hay que ponerla en el papel y ver si funciona, esta parte es la ms delicada porque si no lo haces bien lo que pareca una buena idea puede acabar en un aborto desastroso por eso voy con mucho cuidado para que el primer experimento quede lo mejor posible y me transmita una sensacin positiva y as poder seguir explotando la idea, si el resultado es positivo, me meto de lleno en el concepto y le saco el mayor rendimiento posible produciendo tantas obras como pueda con el mismo discurso hasta que este pierde encanto, tratando mucho el detalle y haciendolo sin fronteras siempre intentando aadir algo nuevo para poder seguir creciendo en mi propia imaginera y aumentar de este modo mi vocabulario pictrico."

pintaba atufaba a Dal, ahora intento seguir mi propio camino, procurando que no me produzcan mucha influencia los pedazo de artistas que veo viajando de vez en cuando por la red, aunque siempre se pega algo del estilo de otros artistas, lo cual no est mal, si es solo un poquito te puede ayudar a crecer, si es mucho y lo que haces se empieza a parecer a lo de ese artista, yo personalmente recomiendo que se olviden de l ..."

"Acuario / Aquarius", detalle de boceto / sketch detail, grafito sobre papel / graphite on paper, 2013 "El color es casi lo ms importante de mi trabajo. El tipo de obra que yo hago es de colores bastante vivos, y muchas veces es difcil combinar diferentes colores con diferentes tonalidades en un mismo formato. Le suelo dar mucha importancia aunque, tengo que decir, que el fuerte mo es el dibujo, la lnea. Quiz por eso la obra sale como sale, es una obra con mucho detalle, muy definida, porque la base de dibujo es muy slida."

Soy de otra poca. Hay pintores actuales como Joel Rea, que es australiano, o Jeremy Geddes, que estn rompiendo esquemas en el mundo de la pintura tradicional. Al mismo tiempo que hay gente haciendo muy buenas cosas con la informtica, cosas increbles, tambin hay otros que siguen con lo tradicional y estn haciendo virgueras, innovando en ste terreno. Son dos mundos muy amplios. El leo, la pintura tradicional, tienen an mucho terreno por descubrir. (...) El tema de la informtica es ms

productivo porque es ms rpido. (...) De todas maneras se complementan; yo a veces me ayudo del ordenador para realizar cuadros, para ver la composicin, como queda, para encontrar imgenes que me resultara ms difcil moverme a un sitio u otro para conseguirlas, a lo mejor si quisiera dibujar un rinoceronte lo tengo ah mismo. Pero sobre todo a la hora de componer."

He studied four years of Graphic Design at the School of Art Fernando Estvez and earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the School of Fine Arts in La Laguna. Although, he says, "the more training I have acquired in my desk investigating and trying new things." As for his style: ".. I'm going to define me as I've been defined by others... Hyperrealist ... If it is just a little bit it can help you grow. If it is too much and what you do begins to resemble that artist's work, I personally recommend to forget it ...

The type of work I do is quite colorful, and is often difficult to combine different colors with different shades in the same format. I usually give much importance though, I have to say that my strength is drawing, the line. Maybe that's why the work goes as it goes, is a work in great detail, very definite, because the basis of drawing is very strong. "

"Tauro / Taurus", detalle / detail "I was about to start in drawing by computer, but not catch me. I'm from another era. There are actual artists such as Joel Rea, who is Australian, or Jeremy Geddes, who are breaking new ground in the world of traditional painting. At the same while there are people doing great things with computers, amazing things, there are others who are still traditional and are doing real magic, innovating in this field. Are two very large worlds. Oil painting and traditional painting, still have much ground to discover (...) The subject of computing is more productive because it is faster (...) Anyway both complement each other. I sometimes help myself with the computer to make pictures, to see the composition, also to find images that would be more difficult to move me to a site or another to get them. Maybe if I want to draw a rhinoceros, I got it right there. But especially when composing. "

Christoffer Relander [Fotografa]

Hermosa fusin de rostros (tambin algn animal) y naturaleza en las obras de ste artista fins. Un delicado trabajo de gran calidad tcnica, realizado sin Photoshop, a base de exposiciones mltiples. Beautiful fusion of human faces - also some animals - with nature in the artworks of this Finnish artist. A delicate work of high technical quality, made !without Photoshop, only with multiple exposures.

Christoffer Relander
Christoffer Relander naci en Finlandia en diciembre de 1986, y ahora reside en Raseborg, su pueblo natal. Se interes en el arte desde una edad muy temprana. Cuando sirvi en la marina finesa, entre 2008 y 2009, se enamor de la fotografa. Coment en una entrevista de The Huffintong Post: "Tuve algunos encargos de fotografa porque era lo ms parecido a un fotgrafo que tenan. La fotografa se convirti en parte de mis ltimos 6 meses de servicio, y me abri los ojos."

"Castao / Chestnut" Christoffer Relander "Hay unos pocos fotgrafos por ah que tambin experimentan con exposiciones mltiples. Algunos de ellos, por supuesto, me han inspirado. Pero en su mayora slo en la parte tcnica. A veces intento capturar cierto sentimiento; puede llegar de una cancin que he escuchado, un sueo o una obra de arte que he visto. La naturaleza misma me brinda mucha inspiracin. Cuando hice mis primeros trabajos con exposiciones mltiples en 2010, realmente no saba cmo iba a salir mientras estaba disparando. Hoy puedo decir con orgullo que me siento a gusto haciendo exposiciones mltiples."

"Como puede verse, la tcnica es algo diferente a la que utilizo normalmente con las exposiciones mltiples en la cmara. El retrato no est hecho como una silueta, sino que he iluminado a la modelo con luz natural suave. Tambin he utilizado un reflector y un difusor; el reflector para suavizar las sombras en el rostro y el difusor como fondo, con la luz del sol llegando desde atrs."
"As you can see, the technique is somewhat different to how I usually do my in-camera multiple exposuresthe portrait isnt shot as a silhouette, instead Ive lighten the model up with a soft natural light. Ive also used a reflector and a large diffuser; the reflector to soften the shadows in her face and the large diffuser as background, with the sunlight coming from behind."

"Entrelazados / Interlocked" Christoffer Relander "Fotografo con una Nikon D700, una cmara muy fiable con exposiciones mltiples que me permite combinar hasta nueve imgenes. Utilizo dos o tres para los retratos y hasta nueve para los paisajes. Me encanta fotografiar con lentes de distancia focal fija: 28 mm, 50 mm y 85 mm que es mi favorito. Generalmente comienzo con el modelo y luego fotografo las texturas."

"Anatoma de la naturaleza / Anatomy of Nature" Christoffer Relander "Me gusta hacer las tomas con luz natural suave, generalmente en lugares donde estoy rodeado de naturaleza. Como los fondos estn sobreexpuestos, tengo que hacer las tomas a contraluz en al menos una de las exposiciones. Utilizo Lightroom para finalizar las imgenes, esto es, ajustes de contraste y atenuacin de blanco y negro. A veces tambin necesito sobreexponer partes del fondo que no estn 100% blancas."

"Sami" Christoffer Relander Christoffer Relander was born in Finland December 1986, and is now based in Raseborg, his home town. He became interested in art already at an early age. When he served the Finnish Marines between 2008-2009 he fell in love with photography. He told in an interview with The Huffintong Post. "I got a few photography assignments, because I was the closest they could get to a photographer. Photography became part of the last six months of my service, and opened my eyes to it."

"Linda" Christoffer Relander "There are a few photographers out there that also been experimenting with multiple exposures, some of them have, of course, inspired me. But that's mostly the technical part. Sometimes I'm trying to capture a certain feeling - might be from a song I heard, a dream or an artwork I saw. Nature itself gives me a lot of inspiration. When I did my first multiple exposure works in 2010 I didn't really know how it would turn out while I was shooting. Today I can proudly say that I feel comfortable doing multipe exposures."

"Yo soy ms / I am more" Christoffer Relander

Trabajo de la serie para la campaa solidaria "Nios con tumores", que Christoffer realiz con Stuart Jackson director creativo de RBH. La campaa est destinada a ayudar a nios con Neurofibromatosis, ofrecindoles la vida de cualquier nio corriente a travs de campamentos de verano. El ttulo de la campaa, "Yo soy ms", celebra la libertad que la solidaridad puede ofrecer a esos jvenes y fuertes individuos. Son los primeros trabajos de Christoffer de exposicin mltiple en color.
Work of the series for the charity campaign, Children With Tumours, that Christopher did with Stuart Jackson, a creative director from RBH. The campaign helps children with Neurofibromatosis by giving them the life of any normal young child through summer camps. Under the campaign line titled, I am more, it celebrates the freedom the charity gives these strong, young individuals. These are the first multiple expositions works in color by Christoffer.

"Patriota / Patriot" Christoffer Relander "I like shoting in soft natural light usually in a place where I'm surrounded with nature. Since my backgrounds are overexposed I have to shoot against the light source with at least one of the exposures. I use Lightroom to finalize my images - which is contrast adjustments and a b&w toning. Sometimes I also need to overexpose parts of the background that wasn't 100% white."

Fotgrafos japoneses (I) - Kusakabe Kimbei

Nueva serie en "El Hurgador", en esta oportunidad dedicada a los fotgrafos del Japn. Para comenzar, algunas imgenes antiguas a cargo de Kusakabe Kimbei, que aunan esa fascinacin occidental por el "Lejano Oriente" con el componente nostlgico que aporta coloreado a mano. New series in "El Hurgador", on this occasion dedicated to the Japanese photographers. To begin, some old images by Kimbei Kusakabe, which combine the western fascination for the "Far East" with the nostalgic component provided by handcoloured images.

Kimbei trabaj en los estudios de Felice Beato y von Stillfried como colorista o iluminador de positivos fotogrficos, coloreando las copias a mano. "Vendedor de cestas / Basket Seller" Felice Beato (o Felix) fue un fotgrafo britnico de origen italiano nacido en Corf en 1832/3. Fue uno de los primeros en captar imgenes en Extremo Oriente y uno de los primeros fotgrafos de guerra. Tambin es famoso por sus trabajos de gnero, retratos, fotografas de vistas y panoramas de la arquitectura y paisajes de Asia y de la regin mediterrnea. Sus viajes a muchas tierras le dieron la oportunidad de crear imgenes poderosas y duraderas de diversos pases, personas y eventos que no eran familiares para la mayora de las personas en Europa y Norteamrica. Sus trabajos proveen imgenes de crucial importancia sobre la Rebelin de la India de 1857 y la Segunda Guerra del Opio, representando sus fotografas la primera obra sustancial de lo que se convertira en el periodismo fotogrfico. Su trabajo tuvo un impacto significativo en la fotografa de la poca, y su influencia en Japn, donde trabaj con numerosos fotgrafos y artistas haciendo simultneamente las veces de maestro debido a su experiencia, fue particularmente profunda y duradera.

"Carro de carga / Freight Car" En 1861 se instal en la ciudad de Yokohama -nica ciudad japonesa en la que se permita la estancia de occidentalesCharles Wirgman, acuarelista y corresponsal del peridico Illustrated London News. Haba conocido a Beato cuando ambos cubran la informacin de la expedicin militar anglo-francesa que ocup Pekn en 1860 (segunda guerra del Opio). Wirgman anim a Beato a instalarse en Yokohama. ste lleg a la ciudad en 1863, comenz a crear un amplio archivo de imgenes sobre Japn y edit dos lbumes: Views of Japan y Native types. Este ltimo apareci coloreado a mano, para lo cual utiliz a artistas japoneses relacionados con la estampa xilogrfica y tuvo un gran xito comercial entre los diplomticos y viajeros que recalaban en Yokohama y posteriormente en el pblico europeo y norteamericano. Uno de stos artistas fue Kusakabe Kimbei.

"Cartero / Letter Carrier" Alrededor de 1885 consigui antiguos negativos de Felice Beato y de Stillfried, as como de Uchida Kuichi. Tambin obtuvo algunos negativos de Nagasaki de Ueno Hikoma. Por eso hay que tener en cuenta que parte de las fotografas comercializadas por Kimbei fueron tomadas originalmente por otros autores. Dej de trabajar como fotgrafo entre 1912 y 1913. Algunos de sus lbumes eran de diseo en forma de acorden, con fotografas montadas por las dos caras. Otros lbumes eran de encuadernacin tradicional, con tapas lacadas, como uno conservado en la Fototeca del IPCE, titulado: Fujiyama. Temblor de tierra. Ao 1892. Japn. Muri en 1934.

"Hombre con capa de lluvia / Man with Rain Coat" Kusakabe Kimbei worked with Felice Beato and Baron Raimund von Stillfried as a photographic colourist and assistant before opening his own workshop in Yokohama in 1881 in the Benten-d"ri quarter, and from 1889 operating in the Honmachi quarter. He also opened a branch in the Ginza quarter of Tokyo.
