National Educational Technology Standards for Administrators NETS-Administrators Reflection Questions for Self-Assessment 1.

Critically reflect upon the knowledge you gained from the technology self-assessment activity. I am a proficient user of technology and an advocate for its use in classrooms for both learning and assessing. I know that I dont always have the patience needed to investigate and learn new technologiesI tend to rely on people and ask for help, as opposed to digital natives who instinctively know how to use the embedded forums and other digital help tools. I sometimes find technology frustrating and overly time consuming so I tend to stick to digital tools that Ive heard about or used previously. I want to be technologically progressive, more curious about new tools to be in front of the rapidly changing curve instead of slightly behind it!. I want to be an early adopter instead of a follower, but this will take practice and patience on my part. ". #ow does the information you gained from the technology self-assessment activity compare with old information you previously held to be true about your technology skills$ %he assessments actually made me feel better about my level of proficiency. I used to feel that my skills, and attitude, were much weaker although I always advocated for e&tensive and open use of technology, I wasnt sure that I could consider myself there yet.! I know that I have grown in both my technological confidence and skills. '. #ow might the information you gained from the self-assessment affect your success as a school leader$ I have long reali(ed the importance of the principal being the foremost role model for technology implementation, but I now reali(e )ust how broad that )ob is. *rincipals must continually be monitoring both the level of implementation and anticipating where teachers will be moving in the future in order to allocate resources so that a lack of resources doesnt slow implementation. +. ,s a lifelong learner, what -uestions or issues challenge you and are worthy of future research or investigation$ Im particularly interested in encouraging technology used in classrooms to mirror real world applications. .e should be asking what and how technology is used in this discipline in the real world and scaffolding that into our instruction. In addition to opening up technology to include what students know and do outside of school instead

of trying to direct and /teach0 it! we should encourage new representations of knowledge and understanding as well consider for e&ample that students need to understand how to create info graphics, and *ower*oints that utili(e smart art to create visual representations rather than filling slides with words.
