California Community College Primer for New Administrators The development of the California Comm nity College Primer for !e" Administrators "as the only co rse material prod ced in this class# th s it is the artifact for this co rse reflection$ This pro%ect "as a very creative "ay to process the information st died thro gho t the co rse & t also present it in a f nctional and professional manner$ This artifact "ill serve not only as a reso rce for me in f t re possi&le roles "ithin the California Comm nity College 'CCC( system# & t also in nderstanding ho" to develop a primer of this nat re and its se$ To this end# this artifact demonstrated my achievement of the Ed.D. program learning outcomes of financial and legal forces# organizational advocacy# and professional practice$ Prior to this co rse ) had some legal &ac*gro nd# having earned an Advanced Paralegal Certificate in +001 and also having "or*ed as the Safety Coordinator at Col m&ia ,inery in ,ashington state for three years# in "hich ) developed safety programs and training in line "ith ,)S-A ',ashington )nd strial Safety and -ealth Administration( g idelines$ This definitely helped in my &eing a&le to nderstand many of the legal forces and mandates "hich apply to academic and college operations 's ch as from the .d$ Code(# & t also the la" relating to h man reso rces iss es s ch as "or*er/s compensation# ADA# 0.RPA# etc$ -o"ever# there "ere many ne" areas of la" and reg lations "hich apply specifically to California Comm nity Colleges "hich ) no" have a m ch greater nderstanding of d e to the lect res and co rse materials of this class# partic larly the very specific g idelines and proced res "hich apply to collegial co ncil as stip lated in Assem&ly 1ill 12+3# "hich relate to the Ed.D program learning outcome of financial and legal forces$ Additionally# g est spea*er 4ary 1enard/s half5day seminar on .nrollment 4anagement and its relation to f nding and & dgets for California Comm nity Colleges "as instr mental in my gaining a no" "or*ing *no"ledge of this comple6
